Hello Everyone
i have a 206 1.9d, I have been hearing some noises from the front wheels when turning, not clicking but more like a thud or knock.
It happens when turning at full steering lock either left or right and accelerating, I thought it was the track rods so I replaced both inner and outer track rods on both sides and had the car aligned but it is still making noises. Could anyone let me know? Is it the CV joints? I would appreciate any help please!
Cheers

CV joints .. definitely.
Also check the lower ball joints.
but this is a CC specific forum and we don't have the 1.9d coal burner in our cars. You'll be better off on the 206info or peugeotforums sites for engine related issues ...

CV joints usually give a clicking noise to start with. For the CV's to give a thud or knock as you say, you would also most likely experience a "wrenching" feeling through the steering as if it had momentarily jammed.
A broken diff will also give the syptoms you describe

Thanks Chaps!
I thought it might be the CV's. How would you recommend fixing it? I have heard that it's more work to replace just the CV joints than to replace the whole driveshaft, or am I being mislead?
@gazza82, what do you mean by CC forum?
Appreciate the help!

I've never bothered changing just the joint .. it's quicker to get an exchange driveshaft. Driver's side is harder as it has a bearing in the middle .. and you need to get the big hub nuts off!!scribe wrote:Thanks Chaps!

Just a thought - how old are the tyres? How many miles have they done? With the diesel you have a lot of weight over your front wheels.
Our car has done over 30,000 miles on the original tyres and, on the rare occasions I have to use full lock, they can scraunch and jump. I'm pretty sure that my issue is down to the tyres and that new ones would cure it.

... and tracking. Full lock going forward slowly can result in the tyres scrubbing and juddering if the tracking is out.

Thanks again for the advice!
The tires are due to be replaced within the next 500 miles, I am sure this will help out some of the clunking. Tracking has been done recently as I replaced the tie rods.
Cheers!

I still vote for suspension and not a broken diff.
