cooling fan

Post by aland13uk »

Hi just a quick question with all this warm weather I noticed our car was getting a little too warm yesterday in start stop traffic normaly sits at 90 deg but in start stop traffic it got up to app. 102deg with out the fan kicking in . So I got home and checked the cooling fan and it was totally cracked and smashed up ( previour owners obviously had a front end bump and not got it repaired ) Now I have got a replacement fan and fitted it and let the car run till it got up to temp. and over but the fan still didn't kick in. Any suggestions on what to check next ?

Thanks Alan

Can't really tell what I'm looking at here- it's a bit too close up. Can you take another shot from same angle but further back?
Cheers Col.

Thanks. That looks like a fan speed resistor. I will have to look at our to see if that's what it is.

Looks like you need to drop the rad off the mounts and move it back towards the engine. I'm off out now but will be able to look deeper on Mon if you need it.
Cheers Col.

Thats the high and low speed fan relays.

I had the same problem on mine.

I made a note of what colour wires went where, cut the other wires off from that connector and then put spade connectors on the wires and plugged them into the relay direct in the correct places.

Also they are just normal 5 pin change over relays so if they need replacing (Like mine did) just buy them rather than going to Peugeot and getting 'genuine' ones.
