Hi i've just joined the Peugeot forum. i have a problem with my daughters Peugeot 206 53 plate 1.4 petrol when she start it up it starts first time but there are no revs but when you put foot on the pedal and after a while it picks the revs up this happens mostly when the engine is cold. had full service, new lambra sensor new cold start sensor no warning lights on cleaned throttle body and idle control valve and had a new cambelt fitted and no fault codes showing still the same just nothing at wits end now worried about her taken the car out ?? have you tried unplugging the EGR valve?
this will throw up an engine management light which will need clearing, but it will also instantly diagnose whether the EGR is faulty or not.
as you look at the engine the EGR is located at top right rear of the engine; it has a simple plug in connection.
they can cause issues.

you will need to clear the error code once its shown up though, so be aware of that.
if it is EGR then replacement is about £80 and a 10 min job...you can blank and have ECU reprogrammed to remove EGR but not sure how much that will cost.

Petrol smell seems to quite common in pugs!
My 407 had it and I've had it a couple of times on the 206 as well.
How did you get the EGR tested?

Silly question, but does a petrol engine have an egr valve?

I'd look at the MAF. (Air Flow Meter). These don't flag errors until they are totally dead so if it is failing it could be sending the wrong signal to the ecu and under-fueling (poor cold starts) or over-fueling (petrol smells and awful fuel consumption figures).

There is also the manifold pressure sensor and check for leaks in the intake pipework.

well my 2l petrol certainly does! LOL

dont trust the garage to have tested the EGR...its such an easy test to carry out yourself.
but its your call.
the only down side is that you will need to have the engine fault light reset and the fault removed when youve unplugged the valve and tested.

im not sure if the 1.4 has a MAF or a MAP sensor though...think its a MAP sensor and i think its located front of the engine manifold.
its a cheap replacement at about £40
