Got a problem with my reversing lights...they have failed. I've checked my gearbox sensor and I've got 12.36V. I also bought a new one just to make testing easier and no change with new switch. My 10A (engine fusebox positon 1) is fine.
I have no current at the light multiplugs for the reversing contact (positon 4). I am usure if I have current at the main multiplug on the NSR interior boot panel as I ran my battery flat testing today, lol. All other lights are fine.
Read a few posts and most indicate to do what I've already done. Any clever person got a quick answer before I start tearing my car apart bit by bit? Thanks in advance.
Did you use a brand new gearbox reversing lamp switch from Peugeot?

Yea, thought it was as simple as that so just bought the part I expected to need direct form the dealer.
Also been throught the wiring diagrams now and it seems a very simple circuit. Earth looks clean too. Think I'm going fishing for a break somewhere unless someone knows better.
Solved...sort of! Traced electrical problems to the BSI box where the 30A supply to the rear heated screen was melting the multiplug. Did the best repair I could to this fixing the rear screen in the process but had to bypass the BSI to get the reversing lights working. Placed a fused spur off the battery to the sensor and cut it out of the system then cut into the required supply wires to the reversing lights.
I found my wiring colours and some codes varied from the published wiring diagrams so a little tricker that needs be and fun with a multimeter. Here are the diagrams http://www.4shared.com/office/-_T9RWpk/ ... agram.html The supply to the reversing lamps is white 2200 from BSI to lamp.
Apologies for jumping in if this is the wrong place? I'm new on here.
My reverse lights have stopped working, it's not the bulb, so it could be the switch? How do I identify the replacement switch I need to order? And where do I access it to test/change on a Peugeot 206 HDI Sport 2.0
It will be on the gearbox and probably under the battery ... and it depends which gearbox you have.
As you have a 2.0 HDi, it's probably going to more productive to ask on 206info.co.uk or peugeotforums as we don't use that engine in the CC version ...

Any Peugeot dealer should be able to identify the correct part when you give them your registration number. I got mine direct from Robins & Day in Leicester. Cost about £7.

Why did Peugeot not put the reversing switch under the gaiter like I have always known? No doubt a new confangaled change on all modern cars making them such a pain to work on.
Because that is simply a remote connection to the rear gear change and often made primarily of plastic bits and cables. The gearbox in the 206 is used in many different models of Peugeot, Citroen and Ford (and others). All of which may have a different remote gear change .. all fwds I have looked at have the switch on the box.
PS in many "modern" cars the reverse switch was an after-though so it was fitted in the best place to be cheap which was normally the gear lever housing extension.
