Best Plugs for 2.0

Post by Skezza »

So the general recommendation is Super 4's which are FR78NX but I've also read that Bosch Super Sparks FR8ME are compatible.

Thoughts?
FR78NX vs FR8ME?

Had a read up, so the FR8ME are recommended, dual electrodes.
FR78NX are the super 4's which are the preferred choice by many and are quad electrodes. Last more miles, but not necessarily a huge improvement in performance or MPG.

I'll weigh up how much they cost and then buy a set :D

We've been running our 2.0 on the Super4s for about three years and they have been fine. Unless you find someone who has tried both and over a long period of time, it's always going to be one word against another or personal preference. Pretty sure my Super 4s weren't that much more that a normal set .. but shop around ..

What came out much have been the originals .. small Peugeot symbols on ceramic .. and the centre electrode was so thin you could hardly see it.

Now as we had a couple of service bills with the paperwork, and they both included plugs, I can safely say the previous owner was "taken for a ride" ... no way had they been changed ...

Are you sure FR8ME's are dual electrode? First picture I looked at shows one!

Not entirely. They said so at ECP. I'll order a set of 522 super 4s off eBay. They're about 15 quid a set. Not bad imo.

bargain. £13 for 4 Super 4's job done. Ordered some oil and a filter. Just deciding whether do a topside change or not. I'm somewhat tempted to drain this one, seeing as I have literally no idea what kind of filth has been in there.

Not entirely keen on putting engine flush in a car, but I'm half tempted. This one might actually need it.
