Problem with the seat heater and airbag

Post by Daiced »

Hi!
I recently bought a car and i've been working on fixing the few problems that it has. During this process i came across a set of really awesome seats that i liked which i installed in my car. After installing them i've had two problems one is that the airbag light has come on and the second is that the driver side seat heater doesn't work. So i was wondering if someone might have an idea on a possible fix for this. Something that is worth mentioning is that the seats that came with the car didn't have airbags to my knowledge but the new ones does and the car that i took the seats out of had been in an accident although the seats airbags had not been deployed.

Anyone?

Shit really sorry completely forgot to mention it's a peugeot 206 2005, the other car was the same model not sure about the year though. I switched all of the seats but it's the front ones that i'm talking about.

I think that your car had the front seat airbags deleted from the bsi when it had seats with no airbags put in it, try unplugging the seats completely and see if the air bag light goes away, if it does you need the bsi telling its got airbags again

The reason why i thought it should work is that my car has the cables necessary for the airbag seats. Would that make any different?

The bsi isnt just plug and play, if you remove something permanently it needs to be told, similarly if you add something its been told is missing it will flag a fault, possibly why you have an airbag light on. The connectors are rubbish. Did you try leaving them unplugged.

Also I didnt know peugeot seats had heaters, certainly not without side airbags.

I have disconnected the airbag plug and the light went away, so does that mean there is no way i can use them?

Not at all it just means the bsi needs telling that its got seat air bags installed if you want to use them.

Youll need someone with pp2000 to be able to do it or you can visit your local main dealer to get it done at a cost of £80 per hour plus vat labour rate.

Might actually be worth leaving them unplugged to save all the hassle.
