Post by jimthorley »

Hi having a problem with a 2nd key i bought from china on ebay.Ended up paying 80 quid to get transponder coded and get my cars code.Problem is key wont code for central locking done the hold lock button 10 sec a thousand times no joy.The auto locksmith who programmed key said it was transmiting ok.I am thinking of buying the computer software and code reader unless someone close by has 1 I am in paisly scotland. My car is 2005 with fog lights will the key coder be able to program the key for central locking? Going for the p2000 or what ever its called. Thanks for any advice given. jim t

There are about four different keys.

Unless you get the type to match your car it is unlikely to work.

Chinese clones are good to empty your wallet but not much else.

Gazza is right the new key must be identical to the old one, other types wont work.

Are they identical inside?

Not that. There are 4 different flavours of module, depending upon age and whether the car has front fogs. If you get one of the wrong ones, there is nothing you can do to make it work.

If you post or PM the last eight digits of your VIN, I'll look up which one is right for your car.

The immobiliser chip can only be coded once, so it does not need recoding. However, replacing the circuit board with a new one does require reprogramming with Peugeot Planet, which is the same process whether a new chip is used or not.

If you have two keys, both have to be included in the programming routine, as the BSI's memory of keys is wiped by the process.

You need Part No 6554 YR.

Example here.

To program it (and the other key) you need Peugeot Planet and the four digit security code on the key card. If you don't have it you can get it from here by quoting the VIN.
