Correct battery

Post by JILLYPIPS »

Hi
Have been having problems with my 206cc 2litre 2002 plate
Changed the clutch and since then have had roof not working, airbag warning light and no speedo.
Speedo and airbag were an intermittent problem before.
Have read a few posts and they all seem to suggest battery change
This I'm about to do but could you let me know the correct spec for my car
:?

A non working speedo will throw up codes for the airbag (and light), air con and disable the roof.

I know because i had exactly the same symptoms. Only way to enable the roof again is with pp2k.

Does your interior light set to door flash when you drive the car?

Its likely to be the drive cog in the diff housing, a cheap plastic part.

When the long driveshaft is pushed in it smashes the dogs off it if your not careful or dont know its there.

Hi Sio
Thanks for response. Do you know if you can get to the drive cog without having to remove gearbox

You don't have to remove the gearbox, just the speedo housing (3 frustrating bolts and very limited space) but you will have to remove the driveshaft as it fits around it which shouldn't be a huge problem since you've just changed the clutch.

Get 2643 02 which is the drive @ £5.75

I would reccomend you get the pinion that it drives too 2649 04 @ £10.04

Get a new o ring seal for the housing while you've got it apart. 2212 23 @ £1.09

Do not attempt to fit your speed sensor into the housing with it in situ, due to the very limited space there's a very good chance you will cross thread the fixing bolt. You can fit it off the car easily.

Your welcome, you didnt mention the interior light, does it flash on the door position when the car is moving and possibly when stood too?

Used to flash when stationary but just tried it and not flashing with drivers door but is with passengers
Not sure if it ever did on drivers side

Yep definitely speedo drive problem then, the roof will need enabling with pp2k after you get it fixed or if you cant find anyone with it locally you could send me the ecu and i could unlock it for you. Or you could just get another from a scrapyard. ;)

Was the old drive broken or cracked? It will need enabling now with pp2k a bsi reset is a waste of time.

Edit: just re read that, its the drive in the housing that will be broken not the speed sensor
