Clutch Life

Post by jeffluent »

With 82k on the clock the clutch pedal on my 2litre is quite high before it bites. Should I expect it to start slipping soon?

It hasn't done bad at 82k. At least you're forewarned. Start slipping soon? Who knows - how long is a piece of string? I'd start budgeting for a new clutch soon though.

I've rebuilt engines at 140,000 where the clutch was fine, and changed clutches on Transits (admittedly driven by telephone engineers) at 25,000. I have a 2012 Fiesta with 12k on and the clutch doesn't feel right.
As GrandadMonkey says - how long is a piece of string.

Clock now at 90K and clutch beginning to 'judder' so I think the end is near.

I'd replace it before the flywheel gets scored. At 90k you've done well.
