Hello I have recently purchased a 2002 206cc cheap. The roof has been working perfectly fine only in the drive mind as it is still sorn till end off month. I have been tinkering with it new electric mirror cd player cleaning etc. I put the roof down whilst installing the new mirror at the end of the day went to put the roof up and nothing at all happened. The windows worked on the button. Put it up manually for the night. I have been out and tried lots of things. But I can't get it to work at all.
Now the car has started refusing to lock and beeping to my understanding this is telling me that a door is open. Boot light goes out and micro switch works passenger door light goes on and off OK and driver door.
On the display it shows that what I can only describe as a nearside rear door open. Obviously I have no nearside door. I wonderd if that was telling what the problem is. ???

Re: Confused roof.
When you were installing items, did you disconnect the battery? If so, did you follow the special procedure?
It may be that the BSI needs a reboot. http://www.petercoopercarrepairs.co.uk/ ... cedure.htm

Unplug the boot catch sensor, its connector is just to the left below the boot catch and try the central locking again.

Re: Confused roof.
Thanks for the responses.
I have tried the bsi reset still nothing.
I have tested the micro switch on the boot catch it tests fine. I haven't tried just disconnecting it will try it later.
I haven't actually tested the roof up/down switch will try that later as well.
OK so sometimes it does lock fine.
Do I need to manually lower the roof so as it can start from the position it was in when I stopped working or will it sort itself out??

Re: Confused roof.
The boot catch has 2 switches inside it, one for the dash information screen and one for the alarm/central locking, which is probably the one that is making the car beep.
The light actuator is in the boot lid.
It sounds like the roof is disabled by the ecu, this happens when it gets confused to stop malfunction and possible injury from trapping in the mechanism.
Have a look at my recent posts for the relay trick to completely close the roof.

Re: Confused roof.
Just the job I will try that tonight. Presumably the two switches for the boot are not in the same place. Which one is the one on the catch.?? Where is the other one??

Re: Confused roof.
Is it ok to replace the ECU if suspected defective? Or a reset or reprogramming is needed if only the roof ECU is replaced?

Re: Confused roof.
The switch in the boot latch is actually a double switch, there are two inside it.
Changing the ecu for a working or non disabled wont always make any difference because if the conditions are still the same it will just be disabled on power up as well, that being said there's no harm in trying it, its not coded or anything like that and would possibly be cheaper than having it diagnosed or sending it off to have it reset. I did this myself thinking my own ecu was dead but later on when I got a diagnostic device I reset it and it works again so now I have a spare.

Re: Confused roof.
I have got the latches to close by doing the relay thing. I have disconnected the boot catch switches. The roof still won't do a thing. I'm wondering if the switch has packed up does anybody know how to test the roof up and down switch??

OK so I have stripped the switch down and I am confident the resistor has gone. But what has caused it to I dunno. Will get another switch and keep fingers crossed.

Re: Confused roof.
Do you get constant beeping when you try the roof switch after releasing the pillar latches?

Re: Confused roof.
I get no beeping at all to do with the roof. Digging around trying to find what's up with it has revealed why the car was so cheap. Wires have been cut on the display so as not to show faults connection plugs have been mostly broken as I can only assume they couldn't work out how to take them apart so have forced them.
I am amazed any electrics work on it at all.
I am still a little confused as to why the display is showing a rear left hand door open. Unless it's a display off a 4dr.

It may be that the display is configurable to 2 or 4 door with Planet.

Re: Confused roof.
I think micro switch 11 on the roof micro switch location picture may be the root off my problem I can't get a constant read when switch is operated. Little confused as this switch has a resistor on it. So I am going to have to buy not one but 3 micro switches as they all come as part of one loom.
