Hello from Anglesey!

Post by RevDarkman »

Hi All

Been loitering this forum for a while

Just purchased a '53 1.6 Allure - very tidy too and a cambelt service completed in January this year!

Few things already sorted - LCD bulbs, replaced god awful LED washers with black mist washer jets, new aeroflat wipers, fitted my Sony xplod headunit and a set of brake pads all round to cover the advisory from last week!

I'm a bit of a Peugeot fan, my last long term one was a 406 Coupe 3.0 - loved it but hated putting fuel in it.... So I moved to an Alfa Romeo GTA 3.2!!! :o

Anyway that is gone now, and this little car was an itch I had to scratch!

Oh and thanks for the roof reset links - already had to do this after stopping the roof mid open to clean the rubbers and grease the joints! It was not happy after that but recovered ok.

Jobs to do... replace all four tyres for a matching set, then try and locate a rust free boot lid, as there's some rust on the edges, which I can see in my door mirrors!

Welcome to the forum. Hope you've read the owners manual now. We normally recommend reading the manual thoroughly before working on the roof, but at least you seem to have been able to sort that mistake out. Many problems experienced by new owners are self-inflicted.

We had Continental Premium Contact tyres on our car from new. The car is still on them with its next owner and they've done 35,000 miles now. Good tyres! Ours averaged 41.5mpg over the 10 years that we owned it.

Good luck - enjoy the summer!

My relay trick works every time when the roof decides to be naughty and is easy to find on here with the search.
