boot latch And roof not folding

Post by Dingdong »

My 206cc now has 130,000 miles on the clock, has lasted ok, back axle ok, but rear suspension knocked to pieces by the potholes and lumnps and bumps on the top of the Chilterns. Now we have a problem with the boot beeping away and the roof wont fold down. Someone said a new control box may be needed costing £600+ labour. Skeeza posted a problem with his boot latch and I will look at that, but any ideas of how this can be fixed more cheaply?
Cheers

If the display is showing bootlid open, this will disable roof. Fix the boot problem and the roof should work

Just unplug the connector and leave it unplugged it wont affect the roof whatsoever.

Excellant, thank you both for replying so quickly. Had a fiddle with the boot latch last night and it seems ok, there was no sheering of the torc bolt. Also the central locking which I didn't mention was working again. I think the car is just getting old and crotchity.
Hopefully the roof will be good for this weekend.
Cheers Charlie

Thats because the latch has 2 switches in it, one for the dash warning light that also prevents the roof from working when its lit up and another for the alarm/central locking that stops the doors locking if the boots left unlatched or rather when the switch is worn out and results in the car beeping when you try to lock it.

Sound familiar?

HI, Question for Slo... If the connector is unplugged, would the roof start to open if the boot wasn't shut, if roof switch pressed?
Thank you..

Yes the roof will work with the boot open if the latch connector is unplugged but remember the boot lid opens first so it would just push the lid down as it hit the rear window, unless it was held open by force I suppose.

Oh right, thanks Slo. I think ours has been disconnected, as there is no 'boot open on the display' & also the courtesy light doesn't come on, If it's the same micro switch. The roof always works..
Thanks.

The light comes on via a tilt switch inside the bootlid.
