I recently purchased a 206 cc '02 2L drives fine etc, I am assuming the battery has been disconnected at some point as the radio/cd player does not work, it just bleeps annoyingly when turned on, this is not my main issue, I have searched and searched through the forums and still can not find what i am looking for, I've gathered that roof issues are pretty common, i have noticed a few posts regarding the white loops in the boot near the hinges, are they meant to be up at the top or the bottom, i am not very technically minded am i right in thinking the boot pull screen has to be pulled out, undo the clips, have the car running then press the switch to lower the roof? My son can't get over for a few days and it is really annoying me now, I'm very tempted to sell the bloody thing, I'm in north east uk (Hartlepool) ANY help would be appreciated.
Hi
The radio is auto identified by the ECU automatically. It beeps if it is not recognised, not original one, or, as you will see on this site, the battery level is low.
There is a roof section on this forum but just to help you:-
Yes for the roof, pull out and hook screen in boot, micro switch lever is on the left side. Doors closed, Ignition on, engine doesn't have to be running, but it makes sense to be charging the battery. Open both front roof clips fully, there should be a beep/bong at this stage, to indicate system is ready, pull roof switch up and hold. Any beep or bong sound now indicates a problem somewhere.
Battery has to be in good condition for correct roof operation, I have had this in the past.
Front windows should then lower, back windows lower, boot top opens, roof opens and folds into boot, boot top closes, there will be a bong sound, release switch. Done
To put the roof back up, push the switch down and hold, boot top will open, roof wil come out and flop into position boot top will close, bong sound, release switch, lock both front roof clips, you can now close the windows using the window switches.
For more specific help, try searching this site as most issues will have been discussed at some point.
The radio beeps if it is not the one programmed to the vehicle (it can be programmed using Peugeot Planet 2000), if the battery is low, or if it is defective. I have come across the latter case - the cure was to fit a substitute radio of the same model and program it to the car. 2nd hand radios can be got on EBay, and the sellers often offer to program them to your VIN.
The white catches in the boot are described in the Handbook. If you do not have a copy, go to http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ddb/, click "Francais" and select "English", then select the car (206, then cc), then the year (refer to the V5) and you will find Manual Operation of the Roof (probably in Practical Information, but that varies according to year). In that section it instructs you to turn the catches one quarter turn downwards for manual operation, so, for normal operation, it would seem they should be turned upwards by the same amount.
I am also a new frustrated 206cc owner, as is my son, who just happened to bu exactly the same car, in the same colour, at the same time!
He has messed up his roof, because he had his daughter's bike in the way, and the roof caught on it. :-/ He has now managed to get the roof up, so at least he doesn't have to worry about the inside getting wet, but he can't put it down again. How can he remedy this, please?
When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.
