Audio issue - PLEASE HELP!!

Post by Assyrian2nv »

Hey guys so I'm new to this forum and I thought you guys might be able to help me out on this very popular issue. I recently purchases a Pwugeot 206 cc 2002 model from a friend and the speakers were not playing anything but the head unit was definitely working. So I did what everybody else did and checked all the fuses but no help. So I thought heck lets open up one of the speakers on the driver's side as I bought a new Alpine head unit and had just installed it. After fiddling around with the speaker after having no change from replacing the head unit, I took out some of the wires (1, 2 which were Green and Pink) and had placed them back in and then turned the engine back on and the stereo worked for a good couple hours then stopped again the next day. I was in so much shock but the audio was horrible as the speakers were blown and havnt been changed since so I thought I would install some new speakers to fix the sound. After struggling to go through hell and back with figuring out which ones 1 and 2 represented as + and - I had connected all the new speakers including the tweeters with the correct wiring that it was placed as before in stock and now I'm hearing a loud 'POP' everytime the stereo turns on and the speakers shut off again.

I mght also add the station memory keeps getting lost rven after I changed the wiring from red to yellow etc. and Fuse 6 had ended up blowing out during the adjustment of the radio settings.

Surely there must be an amp somewhere hidden in this car, does anybody have any suggestions? Im
So desperateBbb

Thanks guys!

My 206cc has a large black audio box across the front end of the boot - it's a factory-fit enhancement - maybe yours has it?

2002 is probably Multiplex so it may need BSI configuration changes as the car will think a factory-fit radio is in there .. PP2000!

I'm not too sure if it has an audio box in the boot but I will have to definitely check again!

Also I've read into BSI configuration and I just wanted to note that the central locking system doesn't work either as I've tried resetting it before to all fails.

The popping sound in the front left tweeter never used to happen until recently when I took out one of the speakers.

The tweeters are wired in parallel with the door speakers. By removing a door speaker, you have placed the entire output of that channel into the tweeter - that could account for the issue.

Sorry what I meant to say was that I removed one of the factory speakers on the driver's side, replaced it with my new Alpine speaker and tweeter then turned the car on and then the popping sound would come from the top left tweeter.

The factory fit radio wouldn't even work to start off with. Also a really dumb question I know but, where is the BSI even located? I've looked everywhere on how to reprogram it to no help.

You need PeugeotPlanet 2000 and the Lexia cable to connect to the BSI .. it's behind the fuse box but you get to it trough the standard EOBD connector.

Bog standard eobd won't understand the bsi ... Only pp2000 does .. And that needs the special lexia interface too.

I've purchased a cheap one off ebay to give it a crack.

If all fails I may have to try and go into the dealer to purchase one

Not the dealer - if he would sell you one it would cost hundreds.

The sort of thing we get can be found doing an EBay search for Lexia 3. You install the software on a laptop with a 32bit OS (XPSP3 is best).

If your laptop's OS is 64bit, see this thread.. Do not worry about Diagbox - Peugeot Planet is all you need for the 206cc.
