Car idles perfect until brake pedal pressed and stalls

My 1999 206 1.6L
Car has been fine, and all of a sudden

Rear Fog light indicator has come on the dash
car starts fine and idles perfect, press brake pedal and rpm fluctuates drops and eventually stalls, also putting headlights on and rpm drops and stalls.

Any ideas guys where to start



Just found this broken thing ontop of engine,could someone tell me what it does and could it be related to my above problem

what could cause this.

Lights and ignition are both powered by the engine compartment fusebox. There could be a partial short within it - perhaps due to water ingress.

Check your earth leads on each end particularly the gearbox to body one, the pic is of the ignition suppressor, stops whining interference on radio or other electrical equipment.

Check battery with a multimeter to see what volts you get with:
A. engine turned off.
B. engine running, but no electrics on.
C. engine running, but lights heater etc running.

Just to rule out, battery or alternator.
