Injector?coil?spark plug?help?!

Post by Louisemc »

Hi all, 4 months ago the engine light came on and the car started juddering and misfiring.took it to the garage they said no2 injector had gone so they changed it, it worked again for 2 months then the same thing started happening again.took it back they said no4 injector had gone, worked fine again for 2 months and it decides to start doing it again.took it back to garage they said no3 had gone.now at 180 quid a pop this is taking the mick so they changed no3, changed the coil and plugs and changed the oil filter.picked it up on Friday and today after driving no more then 3 miles it's happened again.are they/me missing something here?are they taking the p because they can see I know nothing about cars?

Please read this thread.

I can't say your garage is guessing (although they may be), but the only way to sort out your issue is to have the fault codes read.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest that PC300 (actually probably P0300) is a generic fault code which does little to pinpoint the problem. If you look here you will see that a good system tester would be able to be more specific. I don't know about this case, but I suspect Peugeot Planet diagnostic system would be more helpful.

If not, well, we can all play parts roulette, and I suggest the camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor, depending on engine (you haven't said which engine you have in your car). In either case, it's minutes to change and they cost peanuts.

You use a slightly incompatible code reader and you get codes but possibly not the right codes.

No, I reckon it;s right, but their diagnosis of what is causing it is wrong. Multiple missfires are common with something like an airleak on the intake pipe work, but without knowing more about which engine it is, I can't be more specific

Hi, I seemed to be having the same issue with my 1.1 manuel pug 206 74,000 miles on the clock, car started running grogy and then wouldn't start one day so I plugged my fault code reader in and it said that it had open circuit on injector in cylinder 1,2 and 3, got it to a garage and they said the injectors have gone so I got new ones put in and also put decent bosch spark plugs, drove it for a few days and all of a sudden the engine man light came on and the car started shaking and shuddering, plugged the reader in and it said random/multiple Misfire in the cylinder, garage said it was the coil pack so they put a new one In and the fault cleared and the car drove fine for all of 20 miles and the problem has surfaced again! Any ideas on what it could be? Seem to be throwing money at it and yet the problem isn't going away! Thanks

What codes did you actually get? What are you getting now?
Cheers Col.

The code I got was P0300, now the engine man light is flashing where as before it was on constant.

Same advice as above really. Check for air leaks first
