Heater Blower

Check the electrical plug to the fan unit. These do burn out.

Fitted a brand new blower unit and refitted all of the glove box and the heater worked fine....until today !

I had a quick look just to satisfy myself she wasn't pushing the wrong buttons (she has had for over 3 yeas now so that was a long shot) but as its dark there wasn't much i could do, but with the ignition on i noticed her brake lights were on, so i'm now wondering if there is an electrical glitch somewhere that's affecting the heater all along (but i didn't notice the brake lights on in the daylight)

Any Ideas

Just had a thought....she had a new battery fitted about a month ago when the weather went cold and the old one started playing up....dont know if that could have made the system go bonkers

Try Bsi reset. Was battery changed using correct method

Didn't know there was a correct way

Disconnected old one and lifted it out

Put new one in reconnected it

Whats a BSI re-set and how is it done please

I tried it, but i may be a bit dim but i found the instructions a little confusing.
I will point out which bits!

1.The very first step is to unplug the diagnostic tool from the vehicle (if used)
2.Make sure all the gadgets are switched off, the driver’s window lowered down and open the bonnet.
3.Then close all the doors and take out the key from ignition.
4.After a 3 minute interval, disconnect the vehicle’s battery terminals and wait for a further 15 seconds.
5.Re attach the battery terminals and give a 10 second pause making sure the doors are closed.
6.Turn the side lights on.
7.Now turn the engine on and inspect the system functions.(Is this to start the engine or just turn on the ignition?)
8.Press and hold down the lock button on the key for 10 seconds.(Is this while the key is still in the ignition)
9.Check the central locking system by unlocking and locking the door consecutively.(is this by using the key or the internal door lock button next to the hazard light switch)
10.Turn the engine on again and finish inspecting the system. Is this to start the engine or just turn on the ignition?

I have amended it for you. Item 8 onwards is if key need resetting

Followed the step and everything is still as it was before.

The heater control panel show everything is on, but the fan does'nt run and the brake lights are still on

Worth trying a couple of times. If you changed the battery without putting the BSI to sleep, you may have goosed it. This is one of those occasions PP2000 may help.

Changed Battery about a month ago and all was fine until Last week when the blower stopped, so replaced that and all seemed OK again

Yesterday the blower stopped again and i noticed the break lights on all the time the ignition is on !

Not sure if there is a connection but Tried the re-set you suggested but nothing happened

Might have to take it in and get it analysed

Didn't realise there was a gap between battery and heater fault. Brake lights may be unrelated- You might have dislodged the brake light switch it you were working in drivers footwell. Was it a new or S/H heater motor?
