Try removing all the connectors to the BSI and cleaning with switch cleaning spray. To do this, first disconnect the battery thus.

I've noticed before the power goes off the wipers operate on their own!!! Previous owner tells me problem started after carrying a passenger in the back seat?

If you think that's relevant, you could remove the back seat and look for damaged cabling.

Well they are known for going faulty. Do you know the part number to replace what you've got?
You could try these folks to see if you can source a reasonable price replacement
