Replacement for my Clarion RD3-01 Radio/CD player Unit

Post by Michael59 »

Hi to all,

I want to replace my Clarion RD3-01 (PU2471A) Radio/CD player Unit with a unit that has a built-in USB port so that I can play my mp3 files but I would like to keep at least my steer wheel commands functional. Could anyone please give me a compatible brand and model number of a unit that would work in my car?
My Peugeot 206cc is from 2002.
I read that some Alpine or Sony models should work but I want to know exactly which models.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Find a make that has an adaptor for the 206 controls. Connecting direct is unlikely to work on anything other than a Clarion.

Remember the mfd display will not work with an oem unit and you may have to re-programme the bsi to map out the clarion radio from it's settings.

An alternative you may like to consider.

Get a Yatour MP3/SD Card/Aux Player, which plugs into the CD changer socket at the rear of the RD3. Example here. Unfortunately, it does not work with the 2471A, but you can swap in a Grundig/VDO RD3 unit from EBay quite cheaply.

You will need Peugeot Planet 2000 to implement the CD changer and program the radio with the car's VIN.

The advantage is that the MP3/SD card can be navigated from the radio controls (six folders with 99 tracks in each) on the MFD.

Thanks "gazza82" and "Ianl." for your replies.
So if I understood it well, in any case I need to re-programme the BSI... :(
I was quite sure I read somewhere in the past that with an aftermarket Alpine or Sony and a steer wheel adapter things would work fine without reprogramming the BSI.

The later cars have the radio mapped to the car ... for security reasons. On some cars the bsi complains when that radio is missing ... bleeps! I've only swapped out and earlier one and that wasn't tied into the bsi as it had it's own code.
