Hi all, I read the letter of complaint to Peugeot about not having a spare wheel in the car. Does it really mean that a flat tyre is a waste of 100 quid ?
How do you solve this problem ?

( and how did Mercedes solve it in the slk, do they have a spare tyre ? )

They have a space saver wheel and electric pump under the boot floor covering.

So Mercedes are certainly not advocates of Colin Chapman's "performance through lightness" principle

With 190bhp on tap it's not that critical.
It's also reassuring.

They give you a free can of glunky tyre weld, there's no room to stow a spare under the car as with 'normal' 206s as that's where the workings are for the roof. If you get a flat you spray that into the tyre, 'should' get you to a garage. Most people claim it ruins your tyre though so you can't get it repaired and its effectiveness is in some doubt. The general consensus is that its a safer move to buy a skinny spare and keep it in the boot.

No no under the car where the spare wheel should go is extra strengthening to stop the cabin from flexing tooo much, like all cars that have had the roof chopped off.

the roof gubbins are just behind the rear seats into the boot.

i've been driving for 12 years and only ever at one flat tyre on my very first car.

Cheers

Sorry Lyndon! Must have been my dealer stringing me along.

I've been driving about the same length of time, only had one flat but did need to swap a tyre once when my tracking was thrown off by pot holes and my tyre was rubbed smooth.

A mate of mine has got a SMART which also has no spare wheel. When he had a flat tyre the dutch ' ANWB ' , the national driver's club that helps stranded drivers all over the country ( what's it called in the UK ? ) helped him out by lending him a tyre for 10 days.

It gets to 60 in just over 7 seconds. That's a lot quicker than my CC and that's when the acceleration starts!
I do miss the exhileration of putting my foot down and just sitting back to enjoy the fun. That apart, the CC's a pretty good replacement.
