Switched Live or Constant

Post by Nutjahesta »

Good Morning people.

New to this forum as New to a 206CC :)

As the title suggests and to be honest i have tried to look if this has been asked and answered before

I have invested in a DashCam and a Hardwire kit.

Most information says to locate a Switched Live Fuse. Commonly the Cigarette Lighter.

Now looking at the Fuse Board Diagram this is Fuse 22 but this fuse also links to the Courtesy Light
(I assume the Interior light which you can turn on and off without the ignition.)

So my question is this a Switched Fuse or is it constant ??

If constant which other switched fuse is safe to use ??

I haven't got a multimeter to test the circuit lol

Kind Regards

James

Courtesy Light will be constant .. so it's likely the lighter socket is too.

I take it you are using a fuse jumper to connect rather than the lighter socket plug?

Yes I am hardwiring into the fuse box with a Jumper.

What is confusing me about the Lighter /Courtesy Light Fuse is that the Lighter does not work with the ignition off but the light does

However is there a suitable alternative Switched Live to this fuse ??

Kind regards

James

The courtesy light switch has two power supplies, one switched by the key, one always on. The one which is switched by the key is fed from F22 on the BSI, as is the cigar lighter.

Thankyou IanL.

That has cleared up the confusion. I can carry on and use F22 as I originally thought I could :)

For completeness:

The supply which is "always on" is actually controlled by the BSI processor in response to unlocking, door opening, etc and will allow the light to illuminate for about 30 sec.
