I think the chrome hoops look fantastic. It just occurred to me that the hoops are probably there in the event you roll the car - can anyone confirm this? If this is the case, are the after market chrome etc hoops up to the job is called upon (touch wood never)

asked a dealer the same question and he said - dont do it - for safety reasons....
But after seen how they are tightened to the car I cant belive that they are there for safety reasons at all...
But before im changing them I will investigate a bit more at other dealers and peugeot Norway... hope to get something written.....

I'm sure the ones we got via Derek are Peugeot approved. If not I'm sure Derek will correct me. Certainly can't see the original ones were significantly sturdier. Having fitted them, I'd have thought if the car rolled the pressure placed on them would mean they'd snap off anyway as they're not THAT securely fitted, just held on by a couple of nuts.

Is the Peugeot chrome hood just the normal hood with chrome plating or are they made of stainless steel like the one for roll-cage?

If they are stainless steel one, then they will be safer if the car's roll-over.

agree with rachel - the original hoops wouldn't save a fly

but let's be realistic - you are in a crash and the car rolls over with the roof down .......

how are two little hoops going to save you anyway ??? maybe we should all buy crash helmets

Hoops are NOT safety elements ! Just here for style ... You can change them without problem.

Safety is made by windshield structure and head-rest (look at your manual § 5.5)

P.S. : head-rest is correct word ;) ?

I've seen pics somewhere of a cc with no hoops. The guy just removed them. Weard enough, it didn't look bad at all.

Thanks Bruono, good point. How though can it be called a head rest if the seat is too small to get your head in there let alone the rest of your body?:)

Looking at the cutaway diagrams in the brochure, the front bit of the car seems to effectively have a half rollcage in it (up the windscreen pillars, along the sides, etc.). Not sure what the bit at the back that holds it up in the event of a roll is though. Headrests seems a bit odd (particularly if your head is above it...)

BTW although roll hoops look tiny, on some cars they are long things that are bolted to the chassis. A bit like an iceberg in that most of it is under the bodywork
