Finally Peugeot Australia have posted the CC specifications on their website (www.peugeot.com.au). Interestingly no mention of auto wipers or lights or trip computer and has a 4 speaker sound system (I understood new spec had upgraded this to 6). This can only lead me to the conclusion that the initial 2.0 that are being imported are not the new spec. My dealer said some weeks ago that he had confirmed that the vehicles were October build. I've sent a note to Peugeot here (not holding my breath for an answer as they haven't responded yet). Interested in any comment from other Aussies who may have some info on this.

The specs posted look to me like the brochure my dealer was handing out a few months ago. Probably based on some generic spec information.

I can't see how we would be waiting this long and end up with 'old' spec cars. Mind you Peugeot Oz didn't cover themselves in glory by handing out an old spec car for Wheels to reveiw which obviously had a roof seal problem!

Hi Kirk, happy new year. Any word on delivery? My dealer has heard nothing. I've managed to worm my way into Peugeot and am now exchanging e-mail's with them. Let me know if you've heard anything at your end

Frosty, why dont you start an OZ section of the owners club. Useful for getting info from Peugeot.

E-mail me if you want some forms etc to register you owners. If we use the same format then we can exchange info and keep a central world wide list.

The more organised and more 'professional (god I hate that word) the more Peugeot are likely to take us seriously - which can only be a good thing

Will do Rob. I received another call from Oeugeot Australia Customer Service Rep (voice mail) saying that they are looking into my concern about there being no information about my (or any CC order at my dealer) order having been received by Peugeot. Speaking with my dealer he's get the same story from other dealers.

In my correspondence with Peugeot I have made it clear that I am aactive in this forum and will be starting a similar owners group in Oz. I basically said that I can be there best friend or worst nightmare, it's all about how we do or don't get treated as valued customers.

I'll drop you an e-mail and get the forms, I like the idea. What will be the best way for me to make it known to Oz CC owners how to register? I haven't had a chance to do website creation 101 so will be a little while before I get an Oz specific site up and running.

Will drop you a note and we'll take it from there.

Frosty, I am another Melbournian awaiting a 206cc for my wife (Moonstone with red/black leather 1.6 auto). I ordered in late December with a June/July delivery estimate!! From everything I have been reading, including the adverse report in the Saturday paper you mentioned, and the "Wheels" review, and all of the problems listed in this forum (especially leaks), I share your apprehension. I almost cancelled my order last week, until I discovered it would be a costly exercise, and convinced myself it would be OK (?wishful thinking). I would also be interested in an estimate of the frequency of these problems, and whether it might be a good thing to be getting a car later rather than sooner (later specs). Could you also explain what you meant about Peugeot not having your dealer's order. I have never owned a Peugeot and am frankly nervous!!

Cheers!

OK Moush, first of all let me set your mind at rest. This will be my 3rd Peugeot and the other ywo (a 306 XT and my current 306 cabriolet) have been virtually trouble free. They make great cars and in my experience with my dealer they are responsive and really have a can do attitude.

As for the order status I am in direct contact with Peugeot Australia and just had another call this morning. They're in a bit of a change period with the import and distribution franchise moving from Inchape to now Syme Darby. I have it confirmed that some vehicles have arrived but none delivered yet. They are still working out the dealer allocations and I'm expecting a call later today with an update. I'll post here whatever I find out. The reason orders appear not to have been received from the dealer perspective is that no allocation and thus no order status is available. Peugeot were apologetic for this and I sincerely believe they're trying to clear things up.

As for the reviews, yes they were negative but I have been told there are some more in the pipeline that are positive. If you look at some of the press in the UK for instance it's really positive. Thing you need to remember with any cabriolet is that it's a compromise. Wheels focused on rigidity, comparing it to a 206 GTI hatch - well it isn't a hatch so how can you fairly compare. On all counts I'm comfortable that the CC is a great car and after ordering over 12 months ago am still committed to getting one. From Rob's comments to me it's stiffer than a 306 Cab and I'm thrilled with my 306 so should be very pleased with the cc.

My only real concern is the leaks, but am not really sure how bad the problem is. Peugeot Australia have said to me that it's not a problem, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

My advice is go with the cc. With the long lead time you could probably still make a profit if you took delivery and decided to get rid of it.

Hope this helps. I'll be working with Rob to get Aussie owners registered.

One other thing Moush, has your wife driven the 1.6 auto? I drove one and although I enjoyed it I found the transmission to be a little sloppy and then in sports mode it revved too high. I believe the manual is the only way to go, however some people won't drive anything other than a manual.

Just thought I better let everyone know I got a call from my dealer today and guess what...it looks like I am 2 weeks away from being an Oz driver of a cc.

The only problem is that I ordered a Platinum Silver 2.0L with Leather but the only 2.0L they will be getting in will be a Platinum Silver with Cloth trim. Seeing as I am no. 2 in the list they have given me first dibs and I reckon I'll take it. They couldn't be sure when they would get a Platinum Silver 2.0L with Leather in (thought it would be a couple of months). I was keen on the leather but seeing as I have never had a car with leather I guess I won't know what I am missing.

My dealer said that I'll have first dibs anyway so I can check it out and make up my mind when I see it.

I'm plenty pumped now...the only issue is whether it is a new or old spec car. I'll need to check that out when it arrives.

This is strange, I just got a call and said no Aegean blue with leather but I could have a black or silver with leather (all 2.0SE) Indication is also 2 weeks.

I have confirmed with Peugeot that they are all Oct 2001 build and new spec.

Thanks Frosty for the reassuring comments. We did drive the auto and, although neither my wife nor I pushed it on hills etc, it seemed OK (I certainly noted the highly negative coments a along similar lines to yours about the auto transmission in the newspaper review.) However, to paraphrase you - some people will drive nothing but an automatic!"
I look forward to your starting an Aussie Forum - and good luck with your new cc when you get it!

Cheers!

Hi Frosty,

Looks like things are moving - what did you say to your dealer? Are you gonna take a black or silver one instead of Agean blue?

I'd prefer to make use of the sun while I can so I'm gonna grab one while I can.

If you aint gonna grab the silver with leather I might grab your dealers name and see if mine can do a swap - not likely but you never know.

Just a query on the new spec issue - what should I be checking for again? Was the one you test drove an 'old' spec?

Kirk.
