excuse the language but its was a bad trip home from work this morning.

I had some idiot in a lorry getting upset at me for sticking to thre speed limit. He was inches of my bumper flashing and hooting.

Anyway I am almost home and stop for petrol, he jumps out his truck and runs accross the forecourt. I have locked the doors by now. He tries to get the door open then starts swearing at me and tells me to open my window. Claimed he wanted to talk to me.

He wouldnt go away until I dialed 999/ The police are currently examining the video footage at the petrol station.

Be aware of an idiot in a VOLVO FM7 reg X 733 HJM, some sort of plant and equipment hire company in Derby.

At least I have security cameras on the house if he works out where I live. The police would like me to press charges but I am worried that way he will get my address.

Comiserations Rob, I think most of us at one time or another have had an experiance along similar lines of some road rage nutter. It seems they have a bad day for some reason or another and the smallest thing seems to trigger them over the edge an they find any excuse take it out on some innocent party.

I'm sure if it hadn't been you they would have found some other individual 10 minutes down the road, wrong place at the wrong time comes to mind.

At least you did the right thing. These sort of individuals almost always carry some weapon or another and it seems the news too often highlights some tragic fatality arising from a situation similar to that you have encountered.

Its a shame that these sort of individuals too often seem to evade justice for their threatening behaviour, although in this case the individual seems more likely to benefit from a spell in the local psychiatric unit (that is of course if he hasn't only just been released from there).

I have been a victim of raod rage before and ended up in hospital so there was no way I was unlocking the car or opening the window.

I sympathise with you Rob having been subjected to a couple of Road rage incidents as well. It’s a dilemma whether to press charges or not but it may stop this nutter from harming someone in the future if he realises the consequences of his actions. However it’s a personal choice whether to press charges or not. The courts have been taking a dim view of incidents like this lately and it isn’t unheard of to receive time inside on a first offence.

Same in this part of the world. Just the other day, not far from here, a guy was pulled over by at least three cars. They cornered him and bashed him. We're talking about a respectable suburb here.

How brave these 6 or so "dogs" were. They hunt in packs as that's the only way they can get strength.

I'm really beginning to think that satellite tracking of your car (with a panic button) is insurance. How exposed are we with the roof off? If you never use it you might think it's an expense, but I'd love to have more than a mobile phone to get me out of trouble.

I'm not going sat-track yet - but am seriously thinking about finding someone who can supply me a capsicum spray cannister to keep in the glover compartment (illegal, but I'll be happy to deal with that if I was ever called to use it).

sorry to hear Rob, I had one lorry (truck) driver up my a*** (no dirty thought pls) for 15km at 120km/hour on the motorway at night. I was mad, what can you really do in such situation?.

It really pi$$e$ me off to hear stories like that. Glad to hear you're OK Rob - you did the right thing and stayed cool. I had a close shave 2 weeks after I got my licence aged 18 where a (big) guy got out and abused me and punched my window for no sensible reason.

Press charges if you want to - sounds like they want to make an example of someone

Oh rob, I know what you mean... See how you feel later eh? Perhaps sit tight for a few days... If he shows up (and it's a very BIG IF - I very very much doubt will happen, as he has to go through the Plod to get your address), at least you've reported it and THEN you can take a different tack.

He sounds like a right idiot though. Can the Old Bill track down the company and have a word? Someone at Steve's old place was rude to some old dear - she reported him to the MD and he got the sack.

arent you worried that the 'defendant' (scum bag more like) will get your address when you give evidence.

Thats what worries me about giving evidence.

i know what you mean rob and that is the worrying part. luckily for me i can give my address as c/o the store where i work for any incidents that arise so no trace can be made to my home address.

i know you can request to the court that your address is kept secret when you give evidence but they need to agree there are sufficient reasons for your request.

That's awful Rob, not what you expecy where you live. You expect that living in the sh*tty city where I work but not near you. I have never had so much road rage since I got a nice car. There are some very strage people about.
