Hi there, I have had my heart set on the CC since it got here and I was very keen to order one until........I read the Wheels magazine and then I found this site and have read about all of the problems with the leaking roof...has anyone taken delivery of a car in Australia with these problems. I am very reluctant to purchase this car now because I don't want to have ongoing problems when something is brand new. Surely Peugeot is doing something about it, they can't continue to sell cars with a known problem as bad as this. Luckily I live in Queensland where the sun always shines. Look forward to your replies. Fiona

Go for one!!!!
I live in Bergen, the most rainful city in Norway and I think its worth the money. Sure there have been some problems, even I have complained here in this forum, but isnt there problems with every new car these days? I read about cars who are called back almost every week in the paper. looks like the developers are a bit too quick with starting the production, but again this goes for a lot of the new cars..
Dont think that there is many in this forum regreting that they bought the 206cc. Its fun and the best... it has become fun driving to work!!!!

even most people with problems don't regret buying a CC - mines is back at the car hospital the now for a slightly longer stay than before but i still don't regret buying it. - would be nice to drive it mind you rather than the Rover 75 they have given me

Fiona, I'm in Melbourne and have had my CC on order for around 14 months. Yes, there have been problems with leaks but that's not to say all have the problem. I have been in close contact with Peugeot Australia and they have told me that it is not a fundamental design problem. My advice to you is to do as I am and get the car. If you decide you don't like it for whatever reason you will certainly not lose money as demand will continue to far outstrip supply.
I have read the Wheels article and have to say it read like the guy had it in for the CC from the beginning. I have been advised that there are other articles to be released soon here that are 180 degrees to that of Wheels. Also note that AutoExpress UK recently voted the CC as convertible of the year. So who's right and who's wrong? Take a leap of faith. I have my current and previous cars are Peugeots with no problems. Any vehicle can have problems (luck of the build - just ask my friend who parted with over $100K for a Beamer and got an absolute lemon) - my advice is make sure you're with a good and supportive dealer so in the event you have problems you have someone who gives a damn. My dealer is brilliant. Go for it!!!!
Cheers

Go for the CC..
We have had our CC for about three weeks now and it has rained nearly every day and we have had no sign of leaks (I really shouldn't have said that it will start leaking now!
) )
I agree that article in your Wheels magazine sounded like the reviewer had it in for the CC from the start. We had a similar review on a TV programme called Driven, and it turns out they were talking rubbish , the CC is far better than the other cars they reviewed it against - they were obviously paid more by the other car company to give them a favourable review.
Enjoy it if you decide to get one
Cheers Neil

Hi Fiona,
Good to hear from another Aussie in the forum.
I (like Frosty) am hopefully about to take ownership of a CC in the next couple of weeks and I can't wait. While I admit leaks are a little bit of a concern, as you said you live in Queensland and rain shouldn't be too much of a concern. I know I'm not overly concerned as I'm in Adelaide and I'm more likely to suffer heat stroke from the roof being down than drowning from the roof being up!
As for the Wheels review I was p***ed with the review but I agree with Frosty the overall tone of the review was a Peugeot sledgefest. The only positive comment was on the engineering of the roof which is a given anyway. I saw another review a couple fo days ago in the New Car magazine which was very positive. It basically highlighted the fun factor of the car and compared it to having to fork out twice as much for a Merc SLK with teh same sort of functionality. This is the sort of angle I'd expect people to review on.
Oh yeh and the CC Wheels would have reviewed would have been the 'old' spec (built prior Oct 2001) and hopefully any significant roof issues have been addressed in the newer spec CC.
Hope this helps in making up your mind but I'd urge you to at least jump in line because the amount of time you have to spend in the waiting list gives you plenty of time to do your research and come up with the best decision for you.
Kirk.

Kirk, I got an update today.
Seems the CC's imported late Dec-early Jan were 1.6's with next to no 2.0's. It seems my vehicle is therefore not yet in the country and that the bulk of the initial 2 litre imports will be January 2002 build meaning that I probably won't see mine here until late Feb/early March.
Heard anymore from your dealer?
Re the article that you saw, any idea where I can get a copy?
Keep in touch
Cheers

The article was actually in the mag 'Car News' (I rechecked it today). It has been in 2 newsagencies I've checked so you shouldn't have any trouble getting hold of it.
As for my car - I spoke to my dealer today and they said they aren't sure what day it will come in as they get cars in unannounced.
When they did tell me last week that it would be a couple of weeks away they did say that it was the only 2.0L they were getting in so perhaps I might be lucky.
Why did your dealer quote you a couple of weeks last week? If you have to wait till Feb/March can you get aegean blue + leather then?

Kirk, simple answer is disorganisation moving to being organised. Up front I have to say my dealer didn't tell me anything - I was feeding him with info from Pug Oz - frankly becuase they weren't home and didn't return calls.
Pug Oz gave me confidence that they were aware of the communication issues with dealers and said they'd do something about it. They have, as the info I have today re my delivery came from my dealer. I asked my dealer whether he wanted my involvement to push them further, and he said no because he had a flood of info where before it had been absent (mind you the info is still garbled).
This is my understanding of what's going on
1) Pug Oz have little if no control over their ordering of CC's from France - despite dealer orders it's a matter of "what's on the ship"
2) Initial shipment that I was lead to believe mine would be from is comprised of primarily 1.6's and few 2.0's. Those 2.0's that are here are Oct 2001 build and have (in the case of leather) black/red
3) my silver with black leather will be Jan 2002 production and will arrive late Fe/early March
4) No Agean Blue with black leather on that January production shipment - so I'll stick with my silver that as of now has no chassis number assigned. It sits in the Pug Ox ordering system as allocated but with no "DNA"
I have to say though that the response from Pug Oz has been great. They've inherited a whole bunch of history over which they've had no control and I honestly believe they'e getting the house into order.
Let's see the progress from here. In the meantime I'm reconciling myself to 5 weeks wait versus the week that I thought I had left.
By the way, will be e-mailing this with your comments to Pug Oz for their comment to correct anything that I have misrepresented and accordingly post here.
Stay tuned
Cheers

Frosty,
When I quizzed my dealer last week about the build date of my cc they told me it was an October 2001 build.
Maybe I am going to get lucky and get one of the late December shipment. It may have something to do with me compromising on the leather option! I'll wait to see if my dealer can confirm it or better still rings me to tell me that the car is in.

Kirk, I hope you're right - I'd be thrilled to hear that you've got your car!
I suggest you give your dealer another call and ask him to describe the codes against your order. If you have a "B" code that's good news as it's built! Ask him to call Pug OZ and get anupdate on where it's at it their logistics chain. If he has any problems, let me know what details you have from the ordering system and I'll give them a call and see if I can get a bit of action going.
My fingers are crossed for you for an early delivery. For me it's looking like early March.
Cheers

Frosty, I have recieved some more info.
My dealer called me this morning and said that the car has been shipped to WA and is in 'the' compound waiting for transport over to Adelaide. It is currently going through all it's government checks & inspections.
It is yet to be loaded on to a TNT transport truck but he said rest assured it has been built and is in the country. Apparently he said his order form has a 'W' on it which means it is in transit or something (but past the build stage). He also told me that mine is the only CC on their order so it fits in with what we were saying about limited 2.0L's in the shipment.
Once TNT have it it should take up to a week to get to me.
So things are moving - I might leave my dealer alone for a while now and just wait for the joyous phonecall.
Hope this paints a clearer picture for you too.

Well I got the call today!
My car will be here - in Adelaide, Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning.
For anyone interested in a CC Insurer I have done some ringing around and AAMI have quoted me $631 per annum which blows everyone else out the water. I had been quoted up to $1300 and I thought I was going to get a good deal for $850. If anyone can do better that $631 let me know!
The excitement is mounting - its no longer weeks but days.

Hello fellow Auzzies and Frosty!!!!
I am exactly in your spot Fiona. I was all keen until I found this forum and started reading the bad news. I have been in contact with Frosty over it and I am still keeping the CC on my list of 'eligible cars'.
I recently bought the Feb. Ed. of Wheels where they compare the CC, Astra, and Megane and the CC seemed to be a winner but was let down by the apparent 'build quality', so the Astra got up in this one.
I have a few cars on my list for potentials, and as much as I love the CC (above the others in my wish list) there are a couple of things that still niggle me. The leaking roof thing is the only bother out of everything that has been listed wrong with it on this forum (I cannot come to the party on ANY leaks in a car). Others things have to do with the dealers in Sydney!!!! To test drive the vehicle I have to make a $2500 deposit!!!! Which I don't have on me right now sir. The other thing is 2 dealers have told me I cannot 'order' a car to the specs that I want, even though I would put up with a longer wait for delivery!! Now we AREN'T talking about a $100K car fella's. They are hardly encouraging me to purchase the vehicle- deposit for a test drive (I would be happy to sit in the damn thing and be driven sedately) and you get what you are given!!!! These sort of things are making me lean towards the Astra or a Citroen.
The other thing I worry about is their reputation for doing alot of k's without much fuss. I know the diesel Pug's are renowned for staying alive for 400,000km's plus but how so for their modern petrol engines??? I do on average 35-40000kms a year and would like to have a car that would be reliable and last at least 5 years relatively trouble free.... But that is my piece.
A silver 2.0CC with leather would be my dream!!!!!
Meegan
(yes, like the Megane.... although that has been struck off the list now..poxy piece of...)
