My reservation about a chatroom is that the rest of the members don't get to share the discussion / comedy / etc that goes on unless they're online at the time. I know recently there have been quite a few people online at once on occasions, but most of the time there are only about 3 members on at once. This is particularly a problem with a worldwide forum and differing timezones.
I'm not against chatting - which I do myself with some other forum members on MSN from time to time.
I've previously said that I didn't even think we need a "non-CC topics" forum, but I now think that since there is quite a large volume of non-CC topics appearing in Discussion it might be worth at least looking at splitting it into CC discussion and non-CC discussion as someone has suggested before me.
Other people's thoughts?

Yeah matt is right, if you want chat the way to go is msn or yahoo. The forum is a place where people can log on at different times and still get the gist of a thread and make their contribution

I've never used either....
But i agree that this is a place where you can log on at anytime and share the humour etc...
as for CC-related and non-CC related areas? Good idea in principle, but so many topics get 'hijacked' maybe it'd be unworkable? Some of the best laughs and ideas come from people 'going off on one'....I log on mainly to read what's being discussed by a lot of great people with brilliant senses of humour, and if i can pick up a CC tip or two along the way, well, thats good enough for me!
As i've said previously, a 'car-bore' forum would make me log-off these wondorously crafted pages of orange!
