Hi everyone, thanks for your replies, I am so glad that I found this site, it is good to talk to others from Oz about this car. I have a test drive booked for a BMW 316 on Friday, I don't really want this car I just thought I would look for an alternative to the CC because I was dissapointed with the reviews it doesn't even really compare to the CC!!!! There are only 2 dealers here 1 in Brisbane and 1 on the Gold Coast so I think that after my BMW drive I will go and have another drive of the CC and place an order, only a 6 month wait up here at the moment. I want a Black one with fabric interior because the sun is to hot here for leather. (I even got a new hair cut specifically for a convertable!!!!) Everyone is right I dont think that I will regret it. Thanks for the support.

Fiona,
I am in Melbourne. Well done. I went through the same thought processes as you a few weeks back (see my entry under "Oz specs" on Jan 15. Frosty and others provided similar reassuring noises, and my wife and I are now eagerly awaiting the promised "June/July" delivery (order placed late December).

Incidentally, Frosty, you mentioned that you had a great dealer in Melbourne - would you be happy to say who it is (by email if necessary?)
Cheers!

Fiona,

I've had my CC since March 2001 and I think that you will be happy with the choice that you have made.

I've had a few problems with the car.. but overall its been excellent. It comes into its own with the roof down...

Which model are you going for? the 2.0 or the 1.6? I have the 2.0 and I think its worth the extra money as I believe the extra weight of the CC makes for a bigger engine.

By the way I think you'll need another haircut by the time the car arrives.. but at least you should have it around summertime. Although I'm sure Aussie weather is probably great all year round.!!

Take Care,
Tyce.

Fiona, go for the CC and I'd suggest too the 2 litre. How could you even consider getting a BMW 316i - you know it's commonly referred to as a 318 with the poor pack option! If you eventually find you don't like it you'll have no problem selling it as I understand supply will be outstripped by demand here for some time to come.

For Moush, I'm with Straightway Mentone and have bought two cars from there. The after sales service can only be described as excellent. For sales, give Mark Drake a call and tell him I referred you. Be warned the queue is long and I doubt he'll be taking more orders. Can't comment on the other dealers around Melbourne as have had no experience, which obviously says something for Straightway's service as I have never even considered to look elsewhere.

By the way Fiona, once you've had a convertible you won't go back. My current car is a 306 cabriolet that I bought new almost 4 years ago. It has never given me a problem and still makes me smile when I get to drop the roof.

When you get your CC you may consider investing in the wind break. They're pricey at about $800 but on all accounts they work. You might have a haircut that suits a convertible, but your passenger won't always. You may even want to ask your dealer if you can borrow one for a few hours to test it out and see whether you see the value. I've ordered mine as I know they work.

Also, if you drive a manual get the 2.0. I enjoyed driving a 1.6 auto but it lacked ooomph. A little sluggish for my liking in normal auto mode and hung on to gears longer than I would have liked in sports mode. It's all personal choice I guess, but my choice is clear.

Thanks Frosty for the dealer info. We have already ordered through Regan Motors (who seemed good on face value, and closer to home), but test drove the auto 1.6 at Straightway. I hope you don't have to wait till June (like us) to get your CC, especially since you ordered 14 months ago! Do you know how the ordering system works - it doesn't seem that there is much relationship between the ordering and the cars that arrive - is it essentially pot luck?

Cheers!

Moush, I've only heard good things about Regan Motors, so feel at ease.

Re the ordering system. My understanding is we Aussies take what we get given. We're a small market and seem to have little influence in specific orders.

My car (silver with black leather) will be here late Feb to early March. I have a vehicle confirmed but no chassis number yet. The car that I will be getting will be from Jan 2002 production.

It's all less than perfect, but at least we're well and truely in the queue. WIll believe all I hear though when I see delivery. My dealer has suffered over the months from severe information anorexia, however today he said that Peugeot Australia are talking to him and even returning calls. Hats off to Peugeot Australia as they promised me communication would be worked on and it seems to have been.

How many sleeps till late Feb early March - aaahhhhh

Cheers

Having had our CC in Australia for 10 days now, I have to say it is a significant improvement over our former GTi.
We have an October build, black with red leather, and the roof has not leaked in some heavy rain - yet.
Our order was the first in Australia - August 2000. The view that we should take what we are given is a bit lame - do other low volume makes in Australia suffer the same - I don't know.
Fun little car to drive, and with all the speed cameras and the like, who cares that it's not the fastest thing around!
