It's just started raining for the first time since I got my CC and the seal just where the roof clasp is on the driver's side is dripping. Pants.
Any tips?

Neofin,

Get them to replace the seal.

Our own car and the CC courtesy car we have at the moment both do it.

Why is it always the drivers side? I've never seen anything about this occuring on the passengers' side!

What side does it leak on in LHD cars?

Weirdly enough it only drips when I'm driving.
No water gets thru if the car isn't moving... :???:

Neofin,

I believe the seals are U shaped and water is drawn in through capillary action, (I think thats the right term from my school physics days!).

The water is held until:
a) you accelarate and it pours into the back seat

or

b) you brake and it pours all over you!

Maybe the French I trying to tell us something?

Capilliary action sounds nice and technical, I think I shall use that to dazzle the dealership into sorting me out!

Perhaps they'll suggest a silicon gel transfusion?! ;)

Either that or I'll have to drive VERY slowly every time it rains!

I collected my car 22nd Feb and discovered the problem a few weeks later (drivers side only RHD when you brake for the first time). I've been at Peugeot Australia for months to get an official bulletin out to dealers for repair (dealers only want to do what Peugeot says as the cost of seals is expensive). Finally success. Today I received confirmation that the bulletin has been sent and I will receive a call regarding repair.

I'll put the pressure on to try to get a copy of the documentation sent to the dealers and will post via Lyndon.
Cheers

Actually, I fiddled with the seal a bit the other week and it's stopped leaking.

:???: Weird huh?

I was chuffed though

I just had my cc in to the dealer this morning to review my auto transmission, which incidentally is OK, just a matter of "adapting" to its "manual emulation" design. The chief mechanic at Regan motors (Brendan) is excellent and was intrigued to know about this site. He said he had seen one leak of the type described (driver side front). He said it was discussed at an update by Peugeot and is due to a small drainage hole behind the seal, which accounts for the leak under the conditions described if the roof is only slightly out of alignment. His effective fix he says is to seal the hole, which is probably designed to ventilate the roof interior, and is therefore not essential. I do not have such a leak so cannot comment from experience.

Cheers!

Hi

I have had my brand new black 206 cc S since June 02.

A BIG Problem is the roof leaking above the drivers head. At first water was collecting inbetween the handle thing where you close the roof, and it only tipped onto me when I drove around a corner. After my local dealer tried to fix it the leaking got worse and my car had to stay in the garage all weekend to dry out. After taking the leaky roof back to the dealer they said they repaired the roof - but I have since looked and they have stuck some chewing gum type stuff by the roof handle closer thing!! BEWARE OF PEUGEOT DEALERS BODGING YOUR CAR! Can anybody help?!

Nina

I got my car in May this year and had a leak on the driver side by the handle.

I took the car back in and they have done the same thing. It looks like the seal has been glued down to the point where this glue (it is black)can be seen from the outside of the car and the seal is not flush anymore.

The car has gone back in today to sort out some other problems (ie both seats are jammed in one position and cannot be adjusted). I have told them to have another look at the seal as this is not acceptable and if a new seal is required they should order one.

The glue did stop the leak but when I told them I am not happy about th glue the service manager did not seem very impressed, so we will wait and see.

I will let you know how I get on, should get the car back in a couple of hours.

Regards

Sam

Blimey, what a load of bodgers. I just used a silicon grease to lubricate the rubbers and it worked a treat. I stuffed a bit of loo roll up the clips to dry it out and haven't had a drip for months and months now. You can get it in halfords but DON'T USE SEALANT, make sure it's a grease.

Is it me or do all the Peugeot dealerships make spurious repairs to seals?

Anyway, I finally got my handbook and warantee certificate thru from the import guys, so I'll be able to test my theory if needs be! ;)

I had mine fixed about six months ago, can't believe there are still dealers who are making a bodge job of it.

Hi all

Ok got my car back from the dealer. The seal looks much better now, it aligns much better than it did and does not look like it has ever been removed, there is also no excess glue anywhere.

Just shows that if they had taken the time and effort in the first place the job would of been done right.

The seats need to new runner, both driver and passenger
