Rattling when you change gear...?

I have an 01/Y 2.0 SE and have covered some 27K miles. I've recently noticed some rattling when I change gear, coupled with some grating/'rasping' ?(pug-monkey speak) noises unders hard revs. The Pug-monkey engineer who came out on a drive to observe the 'raspings' requested I keep driving for a couple of weeks 'With the radio turned up'...not happy with this advice (especially after I have looked after mine, it's had 4 oil changes so far and plently of TLC !) I put it to you - anyone else got the same problem ?

Anyone else got strange 'raspings' from the engine department ??

Stuart,

Try the following in the 'Other' problems section:

'Wheezy engine'
'Exhaust manifold'
'Engine growl and windows', (on Page 2)

Might be one of these problems?

I did post about my gearbox problems i.e 5th to 3rd (prior to overtaking!) graunching of the gears and also sometimes won't come out of 5th Gear - Monkeys had a look said they couldn't find it!!! Must have had "see no evil" as the mechanic.

Interesting that, Paul - I have exactly the same issues as yourself.

Changing down from fifth can be a hair raising experience (as you say, esp. when about to perform an overtaking manouevre) and it clunks/clanks virtually every time I change into third.

Stuart , I have the same problem with my sept 01 2.0 se. It is currently in the garage whilst we speak having the gearbox stripped down for investigation.

This is just a catalogue of problems I have had with my car . I have been without my car for a total of 32 days in almost eleven months for a number of faults , most of which have not been fixed first time.

I am endlessly complaining to my dealer and only after threatening them with legal action and the words "what car fault feature page" have they started taking me seriously.

dont accept being fobbed off by being told to turn up your stereo . I have had similar comments in the past and although it may seem funny to them its not funny to me as I have to put up with this damn car.
