Yes you should have no problems at all with servicing etc with your import. Dealers just dont give you the same pampering as you would have if you bought it from them.
I'd rather save 3000 quid and not have the pampering
My CC: I've just had an update from the import agent I am using (exclusive-eurocar.co.uk), and have been told that the date Peugeot has told them for my car is May/June (I ordered August 2001)
What a bitch!!! Are you sure your import agent isn't pulling the wool over your eyes to cover some errors on their behalf? Tell me, have you paid the full amount for your car yet or only the deposit?
I have only paid the deposit to the dealer direct, plus the management fee to the agency.
They seem friendly & professional enough people to deal with, and so do believe what they tell me and they have been keeping in touch since I ordered the car. Until I have real problems with them, or the car gets really late, then I'll change my opinions of them, but for now I am still happy. I was quoted around a 6 month delivery anyway (aiming for march), so we will see what happens. After all, I am paying far less for my car than people buying from UK dealers, which is a good enough reason to keep me smiling until it arrives - at which point nothing will remove my big grin
The reason I ask is that I ordered my car in August also. It's just that 2 weeks ago I had a pleasing letter telling me that my had arrived in the French dealers. I then had to pay the full amount. It is fair to say that when the import company ask you for the full amount that you can take that as a sign that the car is actually built and ready. (I just cant wait for 4 weeks today!!!!!!)
I've just ordered mine from Virgin after they reduced their prices (a whisker over £15k inc black paint, leather & sat nav) and their ETA from 44 to 18 weeks.
The warranty is 2 years (unlimited mileage), with the option of a third year (60,000) for £366 (IIRC).
I did check whether they source from the UK but the guy said all their cars are from the continent.
You can get an extended warranty from peugeot who get it from Warranty Holdings (ALL extended warrantys are supplied by them), I had a quote of £1000 for the 4 years extende to make it 5 years. Then if it was a peugeot warranty they would treat you a bit better, though they don't seem to treat UK bought customers very well anyway and if you import you save £3000 and can then get a 5 year warranty, saving £2000 and getting a better warranty. They said it was the saem as a Peugeot warranty.

Just to clear things up about the warranty. If you go out now and buy a Peugeot 206 CC from a UK dealer (or buy a UK SOURCED car via someone like JamJar) you will get THREE years warranty. If you import one into the UK (or an IMPORTED car via someone like JamJar - NOTE: they do both UK SOURCED and IMPORTED cars), you will get TWO years warranty under the new EU regulations.
If, however, you bought an IMPORTED car before 1st January 2002, then you will have ONE years warranty.
Now when I mean bought, I mean the exact day the car is registered (i.e. number plated & taxed etc). So, if you are like me and ordered the import last year, but it's not arriving until this year then you'll get TWO years warranty.
2001 (up to 31st December)

IMPORTED = 1 Years Warranty
2002 (from 1st January)

On Peugeot's latest price list (Feb 2002), they state that they offer a 1 year manufacturer's unlimited mileage warranty with an "optional additional" 2 years' warranty provided free by the UK dealer network.
Is the manufacturer obliged to provide 2 years' warranty, or is this a way around it?
I would assume that what is covered in the second year should be exactly as the first, due to the new eu ruling, but as you say, I don't know if this is a way around it by providing 2 years from the dealer on top of the 1 years manufacturer, for 3 years in total.
I wouldn't touch Warranty Holdings with a barge pole. They were next to useless on my last car. Their 24-hour helpline was closed and I was told to call back in office hours. Useless or what (in my opinion etc!). All servicing HAS to be at franchised dealers, whereas warrantydirect.co.uk allow you to service at any VAT registered garage and were much more helpful
