being (older) at 27 does help with insurance. i'm 27 with full NCD protected and pay £595 with Axa but i also have an SP30 (camera hidden behind a bus stop (b@%&$£&s) and do 20k miles per year.
if i hadn't went down the slippery road of wanting a new car nearly every year i would probably be driving a lamborghini by now

IMPORTANT ADVICE
I've spent the last three weeks trying most insurance companies.
Internet: Okay but when you come to confirm they hack the price up.
(Examples Direct line and Admiral)
Mods: Thought I'd be a good girl and declare my arches!!! however not many insuarnce companies approve of this on the cc. Some even consider colour coding and private plates as a mod!!!!
If your a girlie with no mods try Diamond as they appear to be the cheapest. With mods I got quite a good deal from Admiral.

emma,
i guess the trouble with mods is that you need to phone up to declare them that gives them the opportunity to put the price up
when i went with Axa i had to phone them (hadn't declared the mods on the 1st CC) as my postcode wasn't recognised as it was quite a new house but for some reason the phone quote was around £10 less
??:

adding a partner to a policy can be strange .. sometimes .......
with one of my previous 106's, i decided to put my g/f on the policy (she was just learning) and decided if it was less than £100 extra i would do it for her birthday. i first asked for a quote with me on my own then one with her and it was only 39p (yes 39 pence) more. needless to say that i put her on the policy for her birthday present
p.s. she never did find out what it cost

My wife (23yr old 2yrs NCB) is with http://www.elephant.co.uk with myself (28yr old 4yrs NCB 3 points SP30) as a named driver. We pay £528 fully comprehensive (10 month bonus accelerator) for a 1.6S.
They were the cheapest we found. We called Peugeot insurance and they wanted £2000.
What is the world coming to.

I've always used the fact that insurance would cost more if i added my wife as an excuse to keeping her away from my cars, but this year with elephant.co.uk, it actually worked out £200 cheaper to add her name to the policy....work that one out
