noisey power steering

as the title says. especially when the engine is cold and when turning teh steering wheel left. any1 else get this?

Ocaisionally I get a loud deep noise and vibration through the steering when I am reverse parking. Usually when engine is hot and I have been doing a lot of maneuvering?

Yeah, mine always makes a right racket, it's probably noisier than the engine

i dont notice it at high speeds. and its defo noisier then the engine. gunna get em to let me sit in a normal 206 and try that out wednesday when it goes in for warranty work.

Zetec Sport,

We have an abnormal noise on our 1.6S.

It is not the groaning sound that is normally heard at low speeds and particularly at or near full lock as fluid is pumped around.

For the last 4 months we have regularly noticed the power steering is audible above the engine noise whilst pulling away junctions. Initially it seemed to be only when from cold, but is now evident more often. It is more a ghostly, whistling sound, a bit like blowing over the top of an empty bottle.

We asked Warwick Wright Brent Cross to check it out, but they said they were 'unable to fault' our power steering, despite us pointing out that the 1.6S auto courtesy car we had did not do it!

It is now getting worse and, touch wood/fingers & everything crossed, it will soon be their problem as they are having the car back off of us!

sounds just like the problem i have. i am going to insist they let me try out another 206 so i know for certain its not meant to be happening. they can keep the car till they fix it.
