fuel economy

Hi,

What kind of fuel enconomy do your cars say you get?
Mine says 31.5 mpg, which I think is terrible, but it seems
right, ive done 285 miles and used a full tank of petrol

I got approx 41 mpg on my 206LX 1.4 :x

You got 60mpg? 30-ish sounds about right depending on how you drive it.

Also, what engine have you got? Both the 1.6 and 2.0 are bound to use more than a 1.4 whatever else you do.

I have the 1.6 version. I don't rag the engine, i dont accelerate up to red lights ... I don't thrash it. Its really annoying me how inefficent it is.

1.6 manual, 1.6 auto, 2.0

Urban: 29.7, 26.6, 25.2

Extra urban: 49.6, 47, 45.6

Combined: 40.9, 36.7, 35.3

As for being inefficient, you've got to bear in mind that this car is heavier due to extra reinforcements and folding roof. That, coupled with larger engine, is going to give you a less economical car than a 1.4LX

According to the trip computer I have been getting about 34mpg (for a 2.0 engine). I do a large % of motorway miles at the moment. I did manage to 999.9 mpg once ! (on the instantaeneous mpg figure)

You'll get 999.99 when you engine-brake. Always used to get it on my dad's car when going down a hill in 2nd/3rd.

31.5 sound about right. That's what I get if I drive carefully. I don't think the trip computers are very accurate. The only way really to be sure is to record the milage and how much fuel you put in.

I'm getting 43mph at the mo, but have only done 200 miles so far. I've got a 1.6. Finding it good compared to my last car - MR2

I think these last two comments confirm my Suspicion, my car is drinking petrol. Roll on thursday. Ill blame the dealer for a half ass'd tune up.

Honestly, did they PDI this thing ?! :rolleyes:
