Should I buy one now!

Hi everyone,

I've had my car since 1st september 2001. Since then i've had no problems with it.........................

Wow what a boring post. Here is the way i see it. There is no other car that i could have possibly have bought that i want more than the CC. It looks way better than the SLK and even the 51k Lexus. If i was to compare the CC to anything it would be to these cars and not the MX-5.

I mean with such a dodgy advert on TV, who'd wanna own a mazda? Just so u can go around shouting.....ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.

Yep, I had a leak but easily cured with some industrial gloop. I lubed the seal so it stuck to it's neighbour better. Bone dry ever since (I'll bring it to the meet just in case anyone else wants a try!).

I think anyone buying any car faces a similar worry and it's the luck of the draw. I dreaded getting a lemon like Rob's! My last car (Renault Megane) was a dog, I was just unlucky I guess.

Finally, isn't the MX5 a 2-seater? The CC is a 2+2 so that might be an advantage.

I think some may have missed the point of my original post or not bothered to read it, never mind! The point was I already own an MX5 and have done for the past 6 years. I've enjoyed it greatly although I thought it might be nice to have a change and the CC seemed like a very good idea which it still does. I'm NOT trying to compare the MX5 with the CC, just gain the opinions of CC owners on whether they would recommend the car or not.

Seen one at the the NEC motorshow 1998 and thought i must have one, even though other cars are around the same price and bigger, nothing compares to the CC.

One more still loyal 206CC owner.

I've had the usual roof drip/creaky problems but as far as I am concerned the individual curves and styling of the cc coupled with the electric steel roof far outway any of my problems. I'm thrilled with my Pug and wouldn't change it for anything short of a DB7.

I've been lucky in the sense that because i've gone halves with my girlfriend, we had the wider choice including the SLK, Z3 or Audi TT but we both chose the cc after looking at all of them. The other reasons for this decision is that I'm 6'3", 16 stone, and suprisingly could only comfortably fit into one of the cars, the Pug, after trying them all out at the Brighton car show last year.

I also think I made a sensible choice by purchasing my black SE with red/back leather as it really does brighten the interior up and looks great.

I also managed to negotiate my wind stopper and boot rack in with the deal at Becks of Brighton who have been great (this involved 40 minutes of negotiations and several cups of coffee). I'd love to know if any other members managed to get similar deals by pitting one dealer against another before purchasing. I would seriously recommend this to others.

I know some members may think my decision strange to purchase the pug in view of my other choices, but hey, each to their own! (and they say love is blind).

After reading about all the problems, I was beginning to doubt the order I placed last week until I remembered that for every person that posts a complaint or bad story, there are usually many who have had very few (or no) problems.

Rather than be completely put off by these stories, they have merely alerted me to potential problems - problems which I will look out for both on delivery and at my first rainstorm

if u get a good one then i would recommend it - if you don't then constantly annoy the dealer and they will either fix it or need to replace it

Well im about to take delivery of my 2nd cc!!!! So I guess thats some sort of recomendation. I have had no real major problems just small ones My new car was built on Friday 15th so Im keeping my fingers crossed that it makes it across the channel ok!

are you taking delivery on 1st like me?? I have managed to fall lucky with work this time so I wont be at work the night before. I will be awake to enjoy this one (3 CC's and still in love with them so dont care what others think)

I took my new one out on the road on Friday with some trade plates. It feels much more substantial than my origional one. Even there doors shut with a thud rather than a tinny rattle.

Dont know whether it will be the first or not. They were muttering about it would take 10 days to get my private plate changed to my new car. Its not like the present car when the plate was on retention. I have told them I dont want the car until I get the plate on so its up to them. When it arrives though I am going to take a good look at it before I part with my money!

My local DVLA office in Nottingham do the change in an hour.

To be safe though I put the plate on retention first and then apply it to the new car. The reason being that a chap at work tried to get the plate swapped from one car direct to his new car. Well the paper work to swap the plates was mislaid by DVLA and so the car was reregistered to a new owner. HE LOST THE PLATE.

Retain it then transfer it. It only costs £105.00 as opposed to £80.00. Better safe than sorry for the sake of £25.00.
