Learn to use the searc....no seriously, the consensus was roof's not designed to stop mid way though some people have and got away with it, but not worth the risk of a trip down the dealers.

LOL sorry wheel clamp it - my post was a follow on from AlexLS reply to me in my own help thread "chipped windscreen - help" - as you will see there, I also don't use search, so we were having a little light humour. But if your reply was also a joke (have to cover all scenarios you see) , then I stick out my tongue at you ;)

I have stopped my roof half way before now to check the seals and the boot lid locking mechanism - no adverse affects!

It is different with a soft top because of the way they concertina - sometimes my mkII mx-5 roof won't fold properly on the first attempt.

As for cleaning the roof, the car isn't that high (I'm not either) and so you can reach most of it with the roof up - otherwise you could always stand on a box :)

I often stop the roof half way when I want to clean the inside of teh rear window... I find it much easier......

I've never had a problem with my roof so far.

I've stopped my roof 1/2 way several times so that I could clean the seals and stop the f****ng squeaks I develop after 2 weeks without Autoglym. Last time I did it I took too long and noticed the roof slowly slid itself into the boot - this meant the mechanism was out of sync, the boot lid wouldn't go back down and I had to manually drag the roof back up 1/2 way (not easy) and then complete the operation from the switch. I took a few up downs to stop it beeping at me and I won't be doing it again.

Who's this "REST OF YOU" that you speak of? And who, exactly, is "US ALL"?

You'll find that they are the very people who are best equipped to help you. Try learning the meaning of "humour" and read up on "netiquette" (includes such nuggets as the use of the Caps Lock key). Otherwise, don't expect much "useful" information off anybody.
