Ok I may be going nuts here but.....

My cc has just started locking itself when I turn on the ignition. It goes like this: unlock car with remote key fob, open door, get in, put key in ignition, (depress clutch if I remember) turn key, engine vrooms into life and both doors lock themselves :? . Drive off, enjoy journey in wonderful cc, pull up at destination, turn off engine, open door (with handle) both doors unlock themselves. Get out, lock car with remote as usual.

Now I'm not sure if this is something I like or not. I suppose having the doors locked when you are in the car is a good thing at urban traffic lights, but the rest of the time it makes me a little nervous to be 'locked in'. What puzzles me most is why it has just started happening? Does anyone else's cc do this? Is it a 'feature' or a bug? any answers welcomed :?

Mine doesn't do it so it must be a really new thing.

As for feeling nervous, the car should unlock itself in the event of an accident.

It's an SE 'silver/black' (in black of course!) bought new in June (02 plate) with auto lights, auto washers, the 'split' central locking/hazard lights oval switch and now auto door locking! I think that all means it's a multiplex model but is there an easy way to tell?

P.S. If no-one else has heard of this I'll report it to the garage and see what the er, highly trained Peugeuot Service Technicians say. (but you know I have this feeling they they won't know any more than I do :? )

Maybe it's an option you can enable? If so, I'll add it to my list for when I get the Clarion disabled.

I have a Dec'01 206cc and it has multiplexing and the doors do not lock when I turn the ignition on I think you should take it back and get them to put it right.

never heard of it either but in a way it's a good feature as, as someone mentioned the doors unlock anyway in the event of an accident but it's not good if you are picking someone up on the way to somewhere and you need to unlock the doors to let them in.

very :?

Derek, unlocking (for example to let someone in) is not a problem, either you can press the central locking button or just open the inside door handle and the doors unlock, I'm just not sure WHY this has started happening? When I first got the car it didn't do it! :?

I'm going to ask Peugeout and I'll let you (all) know the answer.

Just spoken to my local Peugeot Garage and the cc is going in 'for a check up' on Wednesday. They said they'd never heard of this problem before!

Yeah lots of new cars lock themselves when the engine starts or when the car goes over say 5mph, its a good safety feature!

And your right the locks do spring open in the event of an accident! Hope this is a feature they are fitting to new CC's cos I haven’t got mine yet! I would have thought it is something you can switch on and off as one of the options!

I have had it before on my current car, you are able to switch these features on and off (like one touch windows etc) and it is a case of something like opening the side door and then putting the window fully up then fully down then starting the ignition and then down window down again or something like that, to turn the features on and off. This is on a Vauxhall so I dont know if it is the same on a Pug and you have just accidentally performed the correct sequence??

God I have really gone into a typing frenzy!
