Whilst cleaning mine today (thats my 206! ) I saw to my horror that from nowhere had appeared two massive chips in the bonnet. :x I seriously nearly passed out! The car is only 2 1/2 months old and these chips have gone right down to the metal. I'm suspicious about how they got there 'cos I know for a fact that I would have heard these hitting the car if it had happened whilst on the move plus there is no dent around the chip. I have three questions for anybody that can help -
1. Has this happened to anyone else?
2. Could it be a problem with the paintwork?
3. Does anybody know of any companies in Herts/Beds/Bucks or West Sussex (about to move house) that can sort the problem before it begins to rust.
Now I must go and resume crying and await any replys.
I picked up a couple (of stonechips) in Ireland last month. small scratches near the rear wheelarches deep enough to show white (through the black paint) and a nasty crater right in my line of vision on the windscreen.
Screen is now replaced (thankyou Autoglass - great job!) and a £5.00 touch up paintstick from Peugeot took care of the chips in the paintwork. This is where Black is a GOOD colour. It shows every rain-spot so the touch up blebs are easily lost!
No point losing sleep, you can't drive a car and expect it to stay immaculate. Just keep washing the winter salt off and a few small chips won't matter.
I nearly broke my dogs leg today and I never touched him - how? Well I caught him lifting his leg against my newly polished CC and got out my 10 year old Supersoaker 500 and promptly squirtd him with cold water. The water hiting his body made him jjump and he spun round and whilst still only on 3 legs he tried to run and fell awkwardly and was limping badly far a while after.
Why are my alloys a target for dogs I do not know??

There's always the 'chipstick' that you can get with Colour Magic polish. Not sure if it comes on its own. That just fills the chip with wax without the fear of messing the paintwork up.
when using the touch-up brush don't worry about putting too much paint on ...............
10 mins after painting the chip, use nail varnish remover & cotton wool to remove excess paint - it just rubs off, but don't rub too hard so that you remove the paint in the chip
does nothing to the standard paint - completely harmless.
please note: derek will not be held responsible if all the paint comes off and you are left with a new bare metal CC

LOL @Derek's disclaimer!
I use a little T-Cut myself but only once the paint has had a chance to harden properly after 24 hours, otherwise you will be left with a mess that will take thinners to remove.
After filling and waiting, just gently thin and remove any excess paint with a little T-Cut on a cloth with your finger then polish area.
