I know this subject has been done to death hundreds of times but I need to be clear on a couple of points.
1. The connectors to the RD3 unit appear to fit a standard ISO interface. Although the connectors are the same, is the wiring slightly different?
2. I haven't been to Pug to get the RD3 disabled yet. I notice that at the moment, switching the lights on has no effect on the brightness of the Kenwood display. Is this due to the BSI or the (non-standard?) ISO interface?
3. When I eventually get the stalk/display adapter, what do I connect it to? Does it sit in between one of the cables which plug into the ISO connector?

Right then. That was a complete waste of time.
I fitted the adapter, I got the dealer to go into the BSI. There's nothing in "Customer Options" and the only mention of a radio is in ECUs. Disabling the radio ECU has absolutely no effect - the new HU still doesn't work at all - no power.
What am I doing wrong?

It seems that the 'accessories' wire on the adapter never goes live. I moved it one place along - this is the wire that goes live when you lock/unlock doors, turn ignition on, and stays live for a few minutes after the ignition goes off.
A better solution would be to use something like the glovebox feed as this is live at the proper times. The only problem with this is that the Kenwood uses the ACC line to power the unit - I doubt the glovebox wire will be able to cope with the demands. That leaves the option of a relay triggered by the glovebox light.

Oh, and of course running a line from the sidelights to control the dimmer on the HU...

Thanks but the multiplex system is different. Things don't necessarily do what you think they should
Anyway - I notice that the glovebox light fuse also manages the lighter socket. This should be able to cope with the demands of the HU - 200W peak power means a peak current of just under 17A - the fuse is rated for 30A. It's quite easy to access the back of the lighter as well.
Still need to run the wire from the sidelights for the dimmer though.

What am I thinking? I can run another wire from the lighter socket - it has its own illumination doesn't it?
D'oh!

That was relatively straightforward. So straightforward, in fact, that I did it by the light from the courtesy light
I ended up taking the power from the lighter socket - the wire is accessible by lifting up the window/mirror panel just behind the lighter.
I had to also remove the ashtray, the gearstick cover and both fascia panels.
The illumination wire I ran to the ashtray light - could have gone the the lighter but the ashtray's closer
Took me about an hour in all - I could probably do it again in 15 minutes though now I know what I'm doing.
I now have a fully working Kenwood HU on my multiplex Pug. Now all I need is the stalk adapter harness

I changed my HU for a kenny mask one and,as the others have said,Pug dealers are hopeless...do it yourself.Initially I fitted the unit, and due to the MUX system I took the permanant pos feed from the existing wiring to the radio and the switched(ie:accessory feed) from the permananly POSITIVE side of the glove box lamp. This is so coz its actually negative switched by the glove box light switch, but unlike many cars its permantly live when the key is in the 1st position-Perfect for flipping the mask unit's face. Then the oil level indicator went up the spout-Thought this was because I didnt disable the radio from the BSI-Trip to Pug-Thick as parasites....Wont bore you all with the details but they said they had done this job loads of times but when it came to it....er...um...."hello,Peugeot tech desk".....and so it goes on.Eventually got BSI disabled, which incidently made no difference to being able to pick up a switched feed from the Pug existing ISO plug, but with my way of wiring, its is all working perfectly now-no thanx to pug. But,its by the book now...BSI disabled to keep the service guys smiling......And a Pukka kenny mask with JBL 2 ways in doors and JBL 6x9's in custom made mdf boxed tied down to rear seats....Pukka....dont even bother upgrading the tiny 100mm rear speakers, waste of time and money...Have fun CC'ers.
