Hi, am changing my speakers from sony components to kenwood components and me and my mate are building a box for the sub and amp in the boot (professional doing the wiring), was just wondering when an amp is 5 channel, or 4 or 3 doesnt matter, does that mean one channel is used for one pair of speakers or one channel is used for each speaker, i.e with a 5 channel amp are 4 channels used powering the front left, front right, back left and back right speakers with one channel for the sub, or are 3 channels used, one for the front pair and one for the back pair with one powering the sub? Sorry if it seems like a rediculous suggestion but any help would be appreciated. Also, with around £200-300 to spend what should i go for in response to subs and amps, preferably 2 8 inch subs, ignore the cost of the kenwood components and materials.

Many thanks
Paul

its 1 channel per speaker, so ur gonna need a 5 channel amp to power all the speakers and 1 sub. If you want 2 subs get a 4 channel for the speakers and another amp for 2 subs.

Your gonna have to decide what subs your gonna get first and then get an appropriate amp to suit them if you get 2.

Hope that helps

Ok personally i'd go for a single 10 inch sub instead of the 2 8 inch ones for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, then you can get a single 5 channel amp
Secondly, Save boot space

Go for a kenwood amp

try that one

and a kenwood 10" sub

:D :D :D

although 2 8 inches supposedly gets you more bass because you have two source affecting air pressure .... well that was the argument in the pub last nite.

sub size should all depend upon what music u listen to. what music do u like? if its dancey music then 10' sub will be fine. if u prefer rnb etc..... get a 12' sub. forget 8' subs u will regret it.
