speaker upgrades

Hi all
Do custom fit speakers make a great deal of difference to the sound quality with the standard head end clarion system, if so what make of speaker

Hmm to be honest I think anything would make a difference ... the speakers are about 10w each and are just poor. So yes you'd get some improvment ... but you gotta bear in minf that at the end of the day it'll be limited to what quality the head unit is.

I wouldn't bother changing the speakers unless you plan to add an amp. I kept the Claion head unit, added a Kenwood amp and changed all the speakers to Kenwood. The sound is fantastic and far superior to that of the standard setup. Without n amp though you'll be limited to the output of the head unit that won't have nearly enough power to drive the upgraded speakers and get the performance improvement desired.

Has the clarion have an amp output, I have fitted car stereos before but this is a new car and dont think I will touch it, have you the spec of what you have. Call me a copy cat but at least I know its going to sound ok

I'd hold file till the meet if I were you, myself erm and several others have all changed aspects of our ice from full 'max power' type installs to just h/u changes.
Have a listen and go from there .....
