After much pressure/whining/jumping up and down and making a nuisance of myself, picked up my REPLACEMENT CC this weekend. It feels like a totally different car to the old one, the roof doesn't creak or rattle, better stereo just an altogether more solid and better screwed together car, and best of all, the drivers door shuts (always useful.) All I have to say is if you see a silver 1.6 on the forecourt of Wokingham Motors RUN LIKE HELL.

Just one thing.....there is a slight delay on some of the electrical functions, eg flashing the headlights (at other CC's of course) I assume this is all to do with the multiplex wiring?

My cc is a new spec and I have noticed that there is a slight delay between pulling the stalk and the lights actually comming on (only a very slight delay mind you) so I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

Crispy, when were you due to pick it up as I wanted to go over there on Saturday morning to drive their demonstrator but was told that they were too busy and it would have to be the afternoon! Maybe they remembered that you were coming and didn't want us to meet?

Oh well, ordered one anyway! I should be able to pick my new toy up on Good Friday....I am so excited and three weeks seems such a long way away but I should consider myself lucky compared to many!!

Claire, we picked it up at 10:30 on Saturday morning, we were rushed into the sales managers office and rushed out the back door again with the car, I guess you are right, they didn't want us to meet the public. Generally Wokingham Motors have been very good though, one of the better dealers - It's not their fault they sold me a duff car!

PS - Their demonstrator is awful, is it quite an early example and creaks and rattles shakes all over the place - not a good example for a potential purchaser. Glad you did the right thing and ordered yours, you wont regret it - it will be good to see another one scooting around Wokingham.

They've got a new demonstrator now....it had 3 miles on the clock when I took it out. Fell in love I'm afraid and the rest is history...........

Does any one else have the same delay problem with their horn. I press the steering wheel and about a second later the horn will sound.
It makes hooting at other CC drivers difficult!!

It's not a problem, it's a feature.

All the electric gadgits - including lights and horns - are now on a computer network of sorts. When you press the appropriate button a signal goes to the computer; the computer says "What? Turn the headlights on? OK" and then another signal goes to the lights saying "Lights. Do your thang!" and another signal goes to the dashboard saying "Oi! Dashboard, No! Get that 'headlights on' indicator thingy you've got turned on now!".

Dead simple really! It's not a Peugeot thing, you'll see it on all the posh cars and any aircraft built in the last ten years.

Drive by wire? What about the delay though, what they got, an old sinclair
ZX 81 computer strapped to the engine?

What is the world coming to?
I'm a confirmed gadget/technology addict and even I've started to wonder whether some appliances really need to be as sophisticated as they are. :
I mean, call me old fashioned but a horn that doesn't sound for 0.5 of a second seems like a potential safety issue to me.
I'm also not keen on the idea of the execution of my commands being delayed while a computer somewhere in my dashboard tries to resolve the IP address of my left indicator - it's technology gone mad I tell you!
I first became aware of this issue when my Spoon watch locked up and I had to look for instructions on the web so I could reboot it - I mean, reboot a watch !?
I don't even want to think about Aeroplanes, I'm not keen on flying as it is.

OK rant over, I think I'd better lay off watching the Matrix and Terminator movies and cut down on the caffeine. ;)

You would have thought the monkey's in Peugeot would have given the left indicator a static IP address to stop this delay . Instead they opt for DHCP ;).

vince,

the multiplex thing doesn't not explain the problem.

the 307 courtesy car i have is only 2 months old, has the same multiplex technology, but it doesn't have the same "feature" with delays.
