In a show of solidarity with fellow Pug owners, I'm trying to help a friend of my fiancee who's having no end of cr@p with a "standard" 206. It's not just us cc owners that get saddled with a shed load of problems, the stuff that's gone wrong with her car would do the people that assembled Dob and Derek's ccs proud.

She needs to write a letter of complaint to Peugeot Head office in Coventry and I wondered if anybody could supply the following to help her out:

Name and address of the head honcho/ scrote in charge of complaints department at Peugeot UK.

An example, with names and details changed to protect the innocent if you like, of any such correspondence you might have sent in the past.

Any help would be most gratefully received.

Cheers,
Justin.

PS. Her latest problem is a split fuel tank, I've been hanging around Lyndon's site since last June and I've never seen that one before - surely they're bound to fit the same tank to ccs?

justin,

my 6 x A4 letter of complaint went to both peugeot and my dealer. along with the quality of my CC, a lot of the complaint contents were against the service level of the dealer.

both were sent recorded delivery. peugeot didn't even reply and it took an e-mail 2 weeks later to them to get a standard written reply. so if you expect peugeot to take notice, don't get your hopes up.

my dealers head office received my letter on the monday, i received an acknowledgement on the tuesday and another letter from the after sales manager on the thursday or friday arranging a meeting for the following week.

although all problems with the CC weren't resolved, the support my dealer got from peugeot uk was pathetic and it ended with the car being regected 20 days ago. since my letter, the attitude from my dealer has been 1st class and i now only deal with either the general manager, after sales manager or service dept manager.

if you want anything from my letter, let me know. doesn't work with peugeot but it does with the dealer.

derek

Cheers for the speedy reply Derek, In this case the problem is really that the car's a complete lemon - after a shaky start the dealer seems to have got their act together so she doesn't really have a problem with them.
If you've got any pointers on what kind of evidence you need to provide before you have a legal right to reject the car that would be most appreciated.

As an aside, I think we could do with putting together a set of FAQs for this site, (including "How to Reject Your Car") and put them in a separate Discussion on the Forum. We could do it between us and all Lyndon would need to do is set the Discussion up in the first place.

Thanks again,
Justin.

Hi Justin

Sorry to here about the car but if you want a letter to get the ball rolling, log on to What car site and they have a template of a letter to rejecting your car. Sweet and to the point.

If you've bought the car outright, your contract is with the dealership so you should address the letter to your dealer principal. If you bought it through PSA or other finance, your contract is with them. As Derek and I found out, its not Peugeot UK's problem directly so they'll just direct you back to your dealership. Good luck.

if the car is on a finance agreement and it is rejected, then i'm not sure but there is a possibility that you would have to settle the agreement as the car is effectively being sold then take out a new loan for the replacement which could be costly.

maybe i'm wrong, just guessing

A couple of issues ago, Autoexpress did ten tips about how to get a replacement if your new car is faulty. They were:
1. 1994 Sale and Supply of Goods Act you are entitled to a refund if your new vehicle isn't of satisfactory quality.
2. Be reasonable only expect to reject a car for a major fault
3. How long have you had it? the chances of success decrease with age and mileage. Act quickly.
4. Used cars still possible to reject but you have less time after buying the vehicle to do so.
5. Sale contract this is with the selling dealer NOT the manufacturer.
6. If the car is under finance reject it to the finance company. Technically it bought the car.
7. Formally reject the vehicle write a letter of rejection and send it recorded delivery.
8. Don't authorise repairs doing so weakens your rejection case should it go to court.
9. Don't drive the car log the mileage or, better still, return the motor to the supplying dealer.
10. Don't be fobbed off warranties don't affect your statutory right to reject faulty goods.

Hope that was some help, lucky I still had the magazine (and I'm a fast typist!!). Good luck

i read that the night before i rejected my car and was prepared to use it - then i thought that my CC didn't actually comply with a lot of the points so decided not to bother

Point 8 sounds a bit strange. I understood that dealers are entitled to try to put right any faults you point out. Only then, if they don't succeed, can you reject it. How can they fix things if you don't let them?
