Car Washes

From everyone's experience if I was to use a Car Wash (MR Clean on the A30 near Camberley)
would it leave permanent marks on my CC's black paint work.
When I say marks I mean the ones that a bit of polish wouldn't get rid of...

The usual drum carwash can leave tiny circular abrasions in the paintwork in time, becoming more apparent with darker colours like black. Debris from other vehicles can also get caught up in the brushes and scratch the car but I suppose it depends on how particular you are about your Pug. I have a black Pug and wash mine by hand and because i've a boot rack fitted.

There are jetwashes you can use, but you want to avoid the ones with a brush as these can cause tiny scratches. Also many jetwashes arn't that effective for removing all dirt and then you've got the problem with drying off before ugly watermarks appear on the black paintwork.

If you decide to wash by hand then there is always the clear paint protection products which cuts down on the number of hand washes.

Is that the one off the big Meadows roundabout? (Next to Kwik Fit or similar??)
If so, it involves putting your car through a car wash and regardless of them claiming they use soft bristles now, I would stay clear.
What better way to spend your weekends than to clean your CC! (I can't be the only sad one here!?)
Oh I have also found myself in a new category that I NEVER thought I would find myself in - Sunday afternoon driver!!!
If the weather is nice, I go for a drive! I have to say that I don't drive like "most" Sunday afternoon drivers though!

i don't like washing cars one little bit, but have never took any of my last 2 cars to a car wash with brushes.

as others have said, they do leave many many tiny scratches, mainly more noticeable with dark colours but also with lighter if you look closer.

i now only go to a car wash that uses a pressure hose only, do it myself (sometimes), or leave it dirty. i prefer the car to be dirty than covered in scratches.

Get a Karcher pressure washer and do it by hand. You'll make your money back within a couple of months.

i bought a karcher washer 50/50 with my dad - needless to say when i moved to my own house i had to leave it behind :sad:
