Major Concerns

The problem is that people that come to this site generally have problems. All cars have problems, I owned a Golf GTI X reg and had nothing but problems. Before that I hade a Renault Megane and that had loads of problems. All cars have problems it part of the package. When you have that roof down in the summer you will not worry about the problems. Just order one, if you have loads of problems sell it!!!!! Simple as that.

Here here Rob - I had loads of problems with my Megane but they were all sorted (took 9 months though)... but how can Peugeot, a year on, still be selling cars with leaks, immobilser faults/starting, cutting out etc??? Okay we get faults, but we expect solutions... from reading this site over the months, you guys take your cars in for warranty repairs and they either sit in the dealers for ages or parts aren't available or the mechanics don't know what to do... etc... that's poor and was the most off-putting thing for me.

Contacting Auto Express is a very good idea but I think we could reach even more people (i.e. put a greater quantity of wind up Peugeot) if we approached Watchdog, or maybe even Driven we could provide them with enough ammo to do a feature.
I know this sounds mad/sad but Watchdog in particular love this kind of story and Driven obviously hate the cc so they'd be only to happy to put the boot in while inadvertantly furthering our agenda.
I remember a feature on Watchdog a couple of years ago (I hope you're reading this NS) where they were complaining about VW Golf alarms going off when it rained and they really went to town on them.
Surely if we made them aware that Peugeot are still delivering faulty cars a year after first being notified of problems - i.e. Rob's "number two" (there's a name that just might stick
). Add that to the fact that their dealers are selling second hand cars that they KNOW have serious issues (Rob's number one and no doubt Derek's too) and I think we have a story.

Rob,
I had a feeling you might be
Give me a shout if you need any help collecting and compiling stats regarding problems encountered by forum members.
Any stats we can supply along the lines of:

Of the 30 cc owners surveyed, 55% suffer from leaks from the driver's side window under braking.

...will be a)very embarrassing to Peugeot, b)indicative of the fact they're not dealing with morons here and c)more comprehensive than any such statistical information they hold themselves.
Keep us posted
Justin.

Justin, could youstart to gather that info.
if perhaps you start a new post and ask people TO MAIL you the info as well as post. Make sure that you stipulate that you wont pass on individuals data, but collection by e-mail makes the figures more powerfull as they cant be 'faked'.
The data can be passed on as a collective figure that will not reveal anyones identity without written permission.

Justin, what a great idea. Because it seems such an important issue, the most important dealt with so far, (Rob, Lyndon,Julia) is there a way of keeping the post top of the discussion agenda for a while to ensure it doesn't slip down and get overlooked by members?
Maybe members who haven't replied could also be reminded in due course by PM. I suppose you could even organise a follow up survey like autoexpress.
If watchdog etc do grill Peugeot HQ on telly about all these factory related faults, then I'll buy two copies of the video please.
Robbie.

Hi Marco,
I was in the same boat as you are. I even sat down in the dealership with my $500 deposit ready to sign. The dealer actually was very rude to me that day because I could not make up my mind, so I ended up walking out with my $500 in my pocket and will never return there. I don't want to spend A$43000 on a car that is obviously going to cause endless problems, you can't just 'hope for the best' that you will not have a car with problems. I still really love the car (that's why I still read this forum) - however because it is only quite new over in Australia I thought I might wait and see if the problems get better. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

PS - the 307CC looks quite good - might wait for this one!!!!!!!

Fiona,
The 307 CC does look great, but last I heard it won't be released in Europe till spring 2003 (so Autumn in Oz) and then you'll have who knows how long before it makes it's way to Australia ... another year perhaps.
I thought of waiting for it but when I did the sums it was just too long a wait. You could probably even lease your 206 cc for two years and then get a 307 cc when they eventually arrive.
