hehe we went shopping last saturday and bought a Beetle on our Switch card
that makes us sound really rich eh? Now I'll shatter the illusion - I'm not related to Robbie, I just have one of those mortgage bank accounts so we just racked up the mortgage!!

Mwoah... I think it's a nice car and it will be a lot better looking than the current model (sorry...).
I just wouldn't buy one because of the image that kind of mercs have here. When i should have one, the people who saw me think i live on a trailerpark.
I rather would buy a porsche, a jag or a maserati.
But for now i'm happy with my CC

Ok, ok, the colour isn't the best choice there is. But lucky for us merc buyers think that mercs only come in black or silver
(though i would choose one of those also
)
Oh and Robbie: if your stock goes well, why not go for a brandnew SLR?

Sorry to disappoint but that picture pasted is not what the new SLK is going to look like, it is in fact a fantasy car (as right clicking on the picture to bring up its properties suggests) and one of a number of very old computer mock up images made by some journalists.
The link below IS however the NEW SLK in all its glory as released in AutoCar magazine last week, the exterior is rather much better I think you will agree, (though I'm not sure about the 2 interior instrument binnicles) and I'm first in line (yummie).
Its not the red car at the top (which is yet another poor computer mock up) but rather look at the bottom silver SLK pictures for the true new design.
So, all you have to do is to click on the link then scroll to the bottom silver images, sit back and Enjoy!

PS. I've owned Porsche 928's Jags etc etc but in my own experience I found porsches to be cheap in build quality, plasticky and nothing but engine and the jags are worse with poor quality build/workmanship, the wood finishing fell off into my hands. In contrast, the SLK seems truly a superb roadster to drive, great road handling and good build quality with the folding tin roof making it a better all round roadster than most, it also has a lot of class in the UK, we don't seem to have them in trailer parks here.
I also notice even after 6 months I get the same huge kick out of driving the SLK I did the first day I collected it. So, I guess it rather looks like I've answered my own question, after driving a number of cars I'm smitten with SLK's, roll on the new SLK.
So my advice is DON'T buy one - thats less on the road and more
for me.
Robbie.
