I took the advice of many of yous and bought the kenwood components for the front and rear!
Got them proffesionally fitted and have to say they werent any better than the factory fitted ones!
Bought an amp asap and got this connected to them too and still I dont think there very loud or any clearer!
Really disappointed!
Had great ICE in my AX! Miss it! Think I might get 6x9s put in the boot!
crap sound

You will need serious punch from anything stored in the boot, and even then you will be making more noise OUTSIDE the car than you will INSIDE the car! (make you look like a boy racer type!)
Due to all the sound deadening and the thickness of the bulkhead behind the rear seats.
Someone on here said they had a sub under the drivers seat - think this might be a nightmare to fit and keep full seat movement, but might be the way to go eventually - i am trying to find something that i think will fit in the bottle holder in the rear yet still give good sound

Now,what I found to be the problem with getting ice to sound good in the cc was the car,not the speakers!!! I installed kenwood componants in the the front,which,as you said,sounded crap!No better than the originals.The problem here being that the void in which the speaker is mounted is far from ideal.For one,the space that the speaker has to resonate in is far too small inside of the door skin and also the material which the speaker is mounted into is far from superior.This theory was proved when my mate bought the same speakers and installed them in another car.The rear speakers,due to their size are not even worth replacing and as far as bass boxes and the like go,I have not yet had a play around with them in my cc yet.
The only alternative which I have come up with,which incidently sounds superb,is to build a pair of MDF boxes,covered in black cloth to match the rear 'seats' and acoustic cloth on top and mount some JBL 6x9's in them.They sound superb and even the bass response is far superior than the standard crap.My rear seats are never used,so I found a use for them.Installing these speakers in an MDF home built box made all the difference and they are quite low so even look quite discreet-Hope this has helped you-FREE DEMOS AVAILABLE

6x9's are complete and utter cr@p when it comes to gettin good sound...... been told by someone who is an ICE god never bother with 6x9s........
if u want some good components stay away from kenwood, alpine and all other high street brands and go for proper brands like rockford, infinity, focal etc etc and make sure your amp is powering them properly.
But if u wanna go for the boyracer standard 6x9s upto you :rolleyes:

Sorry Erm,I dissagree.So tell me where in a 206cc are you going to mount componants,besides cutting panels,because the existing mounting locations leave a lot to be desired and a high quality speaker system will not benefit from being mounted there as they are not able to resonate correctly.As for Rockford being a 'proper brand',I thought thats what all the Nova boyracers and the like go for-Just that-A big name.I have been to many competitions and demos and never actually heard anything made by Rockford thats really made me stand back and go 'WOW'(except for the vastly inflated prices)-If you want 'decent' and have the funds try:Bose,Harmon Kardon,Nakamichi and the like,but come on Rockford,Infinity(and the Kappa range are nice bogey green too
)
I suggested 6x9's as I have been experimenting/building sound systems for many years and these seemed to be a nice sounding,mid-priced speaker,which would give a wide frequency response,and most importantly I took into consideration that these could be installed in the cc with relatively little hassle.Can't remember the model number,but I put in a pair of JBL 6x9's,the ones with the silver cones in my ickle MDF boxes and I challenge you to play me a pair of speakers in a cc that sound better for a hundred quid(the race is on)he he he
Its not all bad thought Erm,I entirely agree with you about amplification.If you have some nice speakers then they will benefit from being driven properly by a well matched amp.Except my lovely JBLs which sound bootiful driven straight from the Kenny head unit-SWORDS DRAW-good luck peeps.
