After 6 months of trouble free motoring I decided to take my 206cc auto to Wales, getting ready to leave on Sun 2 March, I cleaned the car stood back and admired it for a while and then owing to the Sun appearing decided to lower the roof. Upon hearing the scraping of metal against metal I got out of the car with the roof half opened to inspect what had happened. It appears that the mechanism didn't synchronise on opening and the various parts of the roof and boot construction collided with each other causing dents and scratches to the pillars between the rear windscreen and rear quarterlights. I am devastated that my 10 month old car has suffered such a severe malfunction and I have completely lost faith in the machine. I'm in liaison with the dealership (Perrys, Portsmouth) to get it fixed under warranty. Please email me if you've had similar problems. I would like to know how widespread this problem is. frazer@johnwhite19.freeserve.co.uk. Thanks.

Frazer,

I have had the same problem (and lots of others including sticking and leaking of the roof). See my reply to Mike of Sweden for details. Hope you have got it sorted. Would love to know the solution, as I am getting to the end of my patience with mine and have no confidence that the roof will work any more - and that's the main reason for buying a CC is it not?

Hi Joy,

After almost a year of problems with my car and finally reaching the end of my tether with the dealership, Perrys of Portsmouth, eventually came to a deal which meant I got £12,500 for the car (which has now done 25,000 miles). Although I'm without the cc I feel glad that I have managed to claw most of my money back and I know for a fact that similar spec delivery mileage only models are fetching less than the amount I received from Perry's. I've lost approximately £4,000 as I hadn't intended to replace the car so quickly, but I couldn't have kept it with all its problems as I do a lot of mileage and like most people I depend on having a reliable car. Dealership says it will fix the car and trade it, probably at a loss (their words!)

My advice to you would be to go in guns blazing at the dealership - its the only chance you've got, go with a figure in mind (if you're planning on rejecting the vehicle) and don't be beaten down - throw all the toys out of your pram and get a solicitors letter if you have to!!

Regards.

Frazer hasn't posted on here for more than 6 years Robby, so don't be surprised if you don't get a response.
