Hi all.
I have heard some stories (some of which are from monkeys) that BP petrol does not agree very well with Peugeot engines. Since I have just been given a BP fuel card by my lease operator, I need to know if any of you have had any bad experiences using BP, or even if you have used mostly BP and never had a problem.
Cheers,
Matt

I only use BP on Victoria Rd West Ryde because they have the lowest margin between regular UL and premium (usually only 3c). I haven't had any problems with their fuel and the car's done over 4,000kms on their juice!

well, I am not sure whether this relates to the BP ultimate petrol or not ......
I've been filling up BP petrol for the last 4-6 weeks ............ everything was fine until recently, my car tends to vibrates (as in really vibrates) alot when I was stuck in traffic or stop in front of traffic lights. Then occasionally, it will show signs of stalling (but without actually stalled).
It has never happened to me before (i was using Optimax or Synergy).
I went back to the dealer, they hooked my car up on the computer, clean-out a few fault logs and restarted the computer, and they've also checked the spark-plugs/timing/head gaskets/gearbox, etc. However the problem still there.
(unless the problems related to the fuel-pump/fuel-line?????)
I've just filled up my Pug with Optimax last night .......... i will let you know the results in 1 - 2 weeks time.
cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. Interesting to hear. I agree with you Frosty about not using independents. Wil - your problem does sound a bit similar to the problems I've heard about. Since there are some that have had no problems though, it seems it may not be simply a fuel problem.
I filled up with BP Ultimate tonight as I was on vapour. I've not had any problems with the running up till now (5000km) and have only used Optimax. I guess time will tell.
Cheers

I had this problem intermittently with a vehicle for almost a year and thought that it was a case of crud in the fuel and so I was putting in additives etc to try to clear out the fuel. Sometimes it would also belch some black smoke when starting. Then occasionally, it will show signs of stalling (but without actually stalled).
Umpteen trips to the mechanic shed no light on the problem until finally the problem was tracked to the battery voltage being a fraction low. In today's cars with all of the electronics they have for engine monitoring and on the go tuning, a small voltage drop in the battery can cause just the problem you're describing.

What I found with Optimax is that you hardly notice any difference in the first tank. After 2 or 3 tanks of optimax the car feels noticeably more powerful and more responsive in the mid-rev range.I've just filled up my Pug with Optimax last night .......... i will let you know the results in 1 - 2 weeks time.
The big test is to then go back to normal unleaded and the car will feel very sluggish!

I use whatever premium fuel is handy when I get low, I always fill the tank up completely when in nears empty and have not noticed any problems with BP ultimate, I do still prefer Shell optimax as I use it in one of my cheaper slower cars and it does stand out from the others in the results, going over the Brisbane gateway bridge it doesn't ping when I flatten my foot in 5th, all the others do marginally while the normal unleaded sounds like I have metal rattling around inside the bore.
