The G word is a swear word in my house, and dont even start with the A word. Tutt Tutt, u guys have to rely on a dodgy penalty to "beat" us. Dont be too sure about that double

Not wanting to sound controversial...
I would say that residual values are an extremely important part of the investigation into purchasing a new vehicle - but only if you plan to resell after 2-3 years, as I do. Unfortunately there were no published figures when I bought mine last March, but rumour had it that they would be fairly high (as they seem to be judging by what is being published).

Hmm still think a lot has to do with the cheaper imports and many people starting to vote with their feet for the much cheaper imoprted/supermarket options.
I'm certain all this has to effect residual prices on the second hand market and not just for cc's.
Maybe the smarter option is to buy an import in the short term to help stem the loss in residuals (until things settle down in the longer term with Peugeot UK dealers maybe reducing their prices a bit more) though I accept it may be more problematic with courtesy cars, etc.

I'm sure that's the cause Robbie (plus for CCs, the reduction in waiting time making buying second hand to skip the waiting list less attractive).
I know a guy who's started a business importing prestige marques from Europe, you can save tens of thousands of pounds so it will inevitably effect all cars. It was bound to happen when imports became more accessible to the general public, the prices have been artificially inflated in the UK for so long. I suppose if you're worried about residual values, join them and buy an import.
I love my car and am planning to keep it a few years so residuals aren't that important. The pleasure of driving the car outweighs the worry of what its worth

I am not suprised at £13k being the value after 3 weeks if that was quoted from a dealer. Don't forget that dealers will have a gross margin on new cars of around 12% and then there is the VAT element to take into consideration. It is easy to see that a 'new' demonstrator will not have cost a dealer much more than £13k in the first place, plus there will be dealer bonuses. You would probably find that the car is still worth £13k in 6 months.
One of my clients has recently sold his 6 month old Range Rover for just less than half its purchase price... that is enough to buy 1.5 206CCs.
The residual value of the 206CC will never get that bad because of the type of car it is.

Hi all
on residual values, I got 14k from my dealer part exchange on my new cc and that was only 4 weeks ago. I was more than happy with that plus I used up all the Peugeot points on my Peugeot credit card which paid for the leather etc. So I think residual values are doing fine. The cc I part exchanged was just a year old.

i got £16,850 for my 3.5 month old CC. obvious to say it was dealer funded 
but as far as residuals go there would be no point in buying a car if you worried so much. the 306 i got in 1998 cost £12,200. i kept it for 2yrs 2 months and got £6200, a loss of £6000 when buying a 206LX. and if you think that was bad, if i had bought a Citroen Xsara then i would only have got between £4400 and £4900 after 2 years - a loss of 64%.
