On way home from work and was approaching a learner doing a 3 point turn. I slowed down and put gear in neutral and was just coming to a stop when I noticed my engine had cut out. The 3 red warning lights came on. I couldn't have stalled it as there was no shudder just a loss of engine completely.
Anyone else had this.
Luckily when I re-started engine it was fine.
Any ideas???

Maybe I put diesel in mine!!!!
(Don't worry I am not THAT blonde!!!)
It is certainly strange that it has happened at the same time even though the cars are all different ages.

Tis a bit worrying that there may be a new gremlin in the works.

maybe it has something to do with the new software rob was talking about

This engine cutting out malarkey has also been happening to my 206CC 2.0

Until I logged on and saw all these messages I had put it down to the engine being cold (the dash thermometer was reading 3ºC). I’d be interested to hear if all the other cut-outs were occurring on cold days…

Yes it was cold when mine cut out. Was 5.45pm and must have been about 3 degrees too.

if this happens on days with 3 degrees i wil have starting problems most of the year... and i can imagine what happens on the days its realy cold... down to almost
-30 degrees....
OK if it dies on the coldest days, at least i dont have to think about taking the roof down
but seriously, have anyone any experience with driving the car in winterconditions, and how is it on snow and ice???

my car was in today for amongst a few other things, to get the engine immobiliser fault fixed.

in line with their earlier complete incompetence - (long story, but a certain service dept member of staff was close to going home via the local hospital) it requires a new part called a transponder ariel so the car is in for the night as it isn't in stock.

i may add that they think that is what is wrong - but there is every chance they will be wrong.

apart from needing to find the time to put in a letter of complaint over their overall service, they have given me a 106 quicksilver - used to think they looked modern, but inside they look like something from the 70's

Hi Derek,

your Immobiliser fault did it make it difficult to start you car ?

Mine takes about 4/5 times before it starts, been like it for the last 5 days, when it starts it's fine until i stop then try to start it a few minutes after

HELP

Cheers

Lyndon,

Only had the car 2 weeks but it had happened twice. When I tried to start the car, it turned over but wouldn't fire up. As you also said, with me it took around the 4th or 5th attempt on both occasions before it eventually started.

Everytime it failed, the display read "engine immobiliser fault" - i don't think that display is on the initial spec cars ???

As I said earlier, they have ordered an arial transponder - they say there's a problem with the radio signal from the key or something. Either they know there is a problem or they are just guessing which wouldn't surprise me either.

I should get my car back after work tomorrow night. I will keep everyone including yourself posted if i have anymore problems.
